I back mine up about once a week in case anything ever happens to computer. The file is under AppData > Roaming > Microsoft > Office > MSO1033.acl (is the autocorrect file name). If Microsoft is not in the "Roaming" folder, try another folder in AppData (on an older computer I think it was under Local, but not sure), getting to the Microsoft folder is what you need. And if you want the normal.dot file, which I also back up at same time, it's in the Microsoft folder > Templates > normal.dot.
I create an email to myself, attach the MSO1033 and normal.dot files to the email, and send. Then I save the email in a folder so I can read it on any computer when I sign into my email, open the attachments and save them in the correct folders in the new computer. Tthe file will ask if you want to replace it, and anwer yes. This will work only if you are going to use Word 2003 on a new computer. There are different steps if moving up to Word 2007 or 2010, but I still use 2003 even on my new computer.
Hope that helps.
