If you hate reaching for the hyphen as much as I do (I use a laptop and always end up hitting the = sign instead), there is another way to do it.
Use a period instead of the hyphen.
For example:
34-year-old
AutoCorrect: .yo = -year-old
You type: 34.yo
Yea, I’m getting lazy. One other thing I hate to do is shift+3 for the number sign, as in medication dosages (50 mg #50).
I tried every combination I could think of, but every time, after I typed my shortcut, it would leave a blank space between the # and what I typed next, UNTIL I figured out that periods, commas, and slashes do not do that.
So, my AutoCorrect for # is two slashes
// = #
By the way, you can also use a period, comma, or slash for the -year-old AutoCorrect. I think anything that is not a letter can be used to keep from having a blank space between words.
So, there are really quite a few options – whatever feels most comfortable for your fingers to reach.
Hope this helps.
