Think I'm getting really paranoid now. In checking my production over the last 4 days, I noted that I earned the same amount within a dollar each day for 8 hours work, despite having differention dictators and work type combinations over those 4 days. Just seems very odd to me. Two days, most work was from account. Other days, mixture of several accounts. Usually, I would vary a bit from day to day. Anyone noticing the same?

[ In Reply To ..]I am calculating my pay for each day by multiplying my edited lines by my editing rate and then my transcribed lines by transcription rate(of which I get hardly any transcription these days), and still comes within a buck over 4 days.

All of a sudden my line count is cut in half and nearly almost always the same each day? Fishy? Absolutely! I posted a thread about this yesterday during my shift. My check was cut in half from last pay period. Nuance is messing with the lines and I would love to hear who else this is happening to. Class action anyone?

[ In Reply To ..]I definitely noticed it yesterday. I have questioned it but received no response and we were not notified of an overcharge. I believe this may be their way of getting back the huge amount they just spent for Transcend.

[ In Reply To ..]I have recalculated and it appears that they have taken off the counts for the headers and footers. So all the date, CC, and so on we put on we are now not getting paid for. A single report dropped from 22 lines to 12 lines this week. I have a line counting program and this is exactly what has happened to us. Are all of you experiencing this from the Transcend buy-out?

[ In Reply To ..]We received an e-mail stating so two weeks ago, not by our TL, but by her manager, stating that we would not be made to pay back for their mistake that had been discovered, etc. That is when the lines started to not add up. I can understand perhaps adjusting the lines, not that I am buying it, but to have the LPH drop so drastically with nothing else having changed? Something is not right.

[ In Reply To ..]Oh man you've got to be kidding me? I agree, thought, that something is not right as I've noticed my TL has been real quiet the last few weeks. I'm a QC and the account I have has MTs leaving an extraordinary amount of blanks and a lot of it is just either lack of doing their own research or they lacking poorly on the dictators that are ESL. When I started in this business 15 years ago and the 2 hospitals that I worked for let people do this, heads would be rolling. I'll be leaving very shortly too as a bunch of my resumes went out in the last 2 weeks. I'm in the middle of my last 2 coding classes too. Cheap MTSOs like Nuance really made this industry go downhill.

When I ask her where all the work went, as ever since their e-mail the work went from being plenty to now I log on and NOTHING is there for hours, she just says that it is slow. Too many strange things and too coincidental and now other people are mentioning their TLs are MIA too.
I am also in coding! I can't wait to finish and move on to hopefully a better and brighter, and please, more lucrative future! Best of luck to you!!

I am in quite a quandy right now. I have been out of work as an MT now for 3 months due to a layoff. I started off in this field 15 years ago earning 11 cents a line for a transcription company. My last job paid me 9 cents a line. Now I am looking to find a part-time job and I can't find anything over 8 cents a line. Today I had a 35 minute report by one of the worst dictators. On top of that her phone line is really bad. I did the best I could and ended up sending the report to QA. QA was able to fill in about half of the blanks that I had. I ended up sending an e-mail to my supe to see if anything could be done about her phone line, and if she could please listen to the report. For some unknown reason my footpedal just decides to stop working this morning and I spend hours to get it going again. I finally get back into my groove, only to get a dictation that is 29 minutes long with only 4 minutes of actual dictating! I can never get ahead and get a decent line count anymore. You actually looked forward to getting the PA instead of the doctor because they were so much easier to hear, understand, etc., except for the fact that most of them have no clue when it comes to pronouncing medications and feel that it is above them to spell the medication out.
