Message to Nuance - Almost free
Posted: Apr 03, 2014
Here's what my husband said when told Nuance said to use "tax return" to buy a new computer to do their work: "Tell them to go to!"
Good enough for me.

Thanks for the censorship...I did not even type in the whole word, yet it has been edited out. Well, maybe there's someone out there clever enough to get the meaning anyhow.
Hating Nuance - Nuance-mom

I agree! I don't even understand the FAQ memo sent out about it... I already have had to purchase Spellcheck again because when they installed a program for me to work on, it wiped out my Spellcheck...I was told, it is 100 dollars, that is it....they wiped it out and I had to purchase a new one.
Using their computers - nn

I was concerned they would make us all buy computers instead of replacing the Webmedx ones we were using. Thought they might use this as a means of getting rid of some of us so they could hire new students to replace us that would be grateful for the pittance we receive. They do not know what we were making and how it has dwindled over the years.
Spellcheck was given to me at hire. - Are you an original Nuancer?

My spellcheck (along with a couple other things, including a crappy Dictaphone headset) was given (I say given, but loaned is more like it) to me at hire. But I am a Nuance hire, not a takeover employee.
I've often wondered if they give updates as mine needs to be updated (though I've probably manually added most of the new terms).
I don't know if it's because I chose not to get one of their computers or what, but yeah, got a whole box of stuff when I first was hired.
Spellcheck is built into all Nuance platforms. - sm

And if you truly purchased a separate spellchecker, you should have the license code for it and could download it again with out repurchasing. Your story does not make sense.
That is all well and good, but you realize if you - go somehwere else you will be

in the same predicament? The XP issue has been out there for a while now and I'd think most would or should have known and anticipated needing to update.
Did you husband have a backup plan with his gut reaction comment?

No, he has not had a backup plan in 31 years of marriage. Looks like I'm stuck.

According to a poster below which has apparently already attended one of the payroll meetings (as the poster posted) for nuance they have decided to keep the incentive part of all of our pay going with an exception that now you have to have over the industry standard of 98% to get a production based incentive.
In addition (if this poster is accurate) they have again cut the overall pay from 8 and 4 to 3 3/4 AND 7 1/2. This is nothing but a bunch of crapploa...an MT who is now getting ...
I'm just wondering when was the last time any of us took a moment and researched outside of this forum to get a better idea of what is happening with the MT industry?
Someone had asked last week for a listing of the largest? MTSOs. I posted regarding the KLAS MTSO study June 2008, but I wonder just how many MTs actually read it and absorbed the information that was made available to them within the free study.

Did anyone else get the message from Massanotti? What do you think? Also, I went to medquist.com and was struck by the fact that they are marketing front-end dictation systems with SpeechQ, thereby eliminating transcriptionists altogether! I am not surprised, any way to get us out of the picture will make them more money. It just seems odd that they would tell us on one hand that they value us and then on the other try to get rid of us altogether.... ...

This is a message to the cherry pickers on my new account. Well, you got greedy, skimmed so many of the money-making jobs that it became apparent to all of us including management.
