I made a post a day or two ago that I have been receiving much less ASR. It has been a dramatic drop in the number of ASR reports I have been getting.

Nothing has changed for me as far as dictators, report types or accounts, it just suddenly almost stopped. I was trying to find a pattern, so if I may ask, what region are you in? Have you noticed any difference in the backlog of your account? Anything that seems different?

Another thing I noticed this week is backlog has increased, no NJA at all! My accounts have been low on work for months (maybe more than that), and as of Monday, there is work, a lot of it!

I've been around a very long time, and I know something is up. It may not be necessarily bad (but I do know when it comes to the Q use caution).

Maybe ASR is on the fritz in some regions/accounts. Maybe the increase in backlog is due to the client is not happy with offshore (Ockham's razor), may apply.

One could hope, right? Where can I find my region? I have worked here for 3 years and always here about people talking about their regions. I have changed like 7 accounts in 3 years and hopefully this one sticks... I do a bunch of hospitals around the Philly area... but where can I find out what region that is?

Completely hard to believe. Entire report typed over and would require less time, would make more money. ASR takes so long. Would love to use my expander all the time again, as it was heaven.I have no problem COMPLAINING about ASR, especially after losing 50% of my pay.

The entire report does not automatically pop onto screen. It does in fact require work. Only some words are in expander, not each and every word in a report. I have yet to use normals or templates while working at Medquist. So, expanders help, but you still put in the typing. I have the pain in my fingers and wrists to prove it.

Aren't you making your expanders work for you? Since I have regular accounts, same doctors day in and day out, we've got the progress notes, consultations, ops and mostly everything else in an expander! Why would't I use it! Sheesh... many of our docs also use standards/templates, they're on the profiles so we use them too.

I make my expanders work for me too! That's what they're for right. This past couple of days I've been kicking butt with expanders and standards. It's been great. You're right. Why wouldn't we use it if that's what it's for. ~juju

VR is supposed to be doing the work for us! Well, which is it?? You can't have it both ways, you know. That's talking out of both sides of your mouth, something MTSOs are expert at.

If you use expanders, this is work. Can you remember thousands of expanders and turn out a quality document. I suspect not--or you wouldn't need the GARBAGE that is VR.

I don't know about your accounts, but on mine I get in around 350 lph on average with ASR, some hours more and some hours less. If I wasn't able to, I would see a big pay cut. I really think it all depends on your account.

I typed 300-400 lines per hour with straight typing at nearly twice the pay. Why would I want to go to VR and edit the same amount of lines for half the pay??? As stated multiple times, those of us who can type 300-400 lph straight typing will never earn what we were before. I'd like to know of anyone getting 600-800 lph on VR consistently(without cherry picking).

The larger corporate MTSOs are making us all do VR (our loss, their gain). Your question really doesn't make much sense. "Since you know already what you would not be able to do, why the posts?" What is it that I would not be able to do? I do VR because I have to...you are right. I do not enjoy it nor do I make the money I made before. Not due to any lack of ability on my part but due to the poor reports generated by VR coupled by the decrease in pay per line. As far as being able to straight type, I assure you that this will be something I continue to do just as soon as I get my own clients. I hope to be up and running by the first of the year...I can't wait!

lost half of my pay. I love VR, yes I do and absolutely detest getting any straight, hate, hate, hate straight work anymore. You HAVE to be on a good platsform. Up and until that time, you will never make good money.

I type a lot of crap, but just had the worst doc I think I ever had. Had 11 QA markers so I sent it to QA thinking they might actually LIKE getting some work since they are about to be history. I spend a lot of time typing for a huge university hospital clinic with no ADT. Have to type in all patient information. Almost every report is a LETTER. Referring physician has to be typed into the ADT. Then the letter recipient information has to be typed in and lo and behold have to re-type it into the cc list for the doc to get a copy of the letter. I wonder why I can't run a decent line count? Don't you just hate it when you've got a dictation that is so fraught with static, and it sounds like the dictator is 100 miles away from the phone, but you actually can make out the words, just barely, and you'd love to leave all blanks because it's such a chore to hear any of it, but you can't, of course, because you can make it out? I have been at Nuance 4 months and don't know how I am going to go through another week there. I wish somebody would figure out a way to train new hires other than setting them down with only a few hours training and letting them type their entire shift without a word from anyone, only to have QA come in the next morning and correct all the reports. With regular transcription, we are only limited by the quality of the dictation the sound. It slows my computer way down. I was typing a little while ago and all of a sudden the word I had just typed disappeared and the line above it was doubled! When I scrolled up and down the page it just got worse. It was about 2 minutes before it fixed itself and I was able to put the cursor in the correct place and finish the report.
