When it comes back up, we are asked to work OT to catch up. I don't like work Friday nights as it is. Oh well.

that part of it is down too. Before it crashed, I was getting NJA anyway, so unless they've been dictating this whole time, there shouldn't be much.

I got an update to but it didn't say much other than they don't know how long it will take, and she wants us to make up the time.

I'm probably wrong, have been lots in the past, but isn't overtime paid only for Time Worked, and not any compensation for downtime, etc; you would just be paid straight time for all hours if you took downtime including the time worked to make up? Used to be that way in Texas years ago, but I have no idea now. Any insight anyone?

OT does not go into effect until after 40 hours of production have been reached. For instance, I've had PTO on a Monday and then asked to work OT on a Friday and I didn't get any OT pay. There may be some states that differ like NY or Cali, but this is the policy for most.

My TSM ALWAYS makes me make up time. Do we paid time for sickness? I feel workitis coming on.

doesn't seem right that you would have to make up the time. It was their "fault" that we couldn't work with the system being down. I personally stuck close to my computer yesterday for the time that was my shift and checked every 10 minutes for an update from my TSM or would try to get into Fluency myself. Within minutes of getting the news Fluency was up and running, I was back working. So I think we should get downtime pay and not have to make up the work. And considering we are at the end of a pay period and people have lives, it could be difficult for someone to make up the time and it certainly is unfair to make someone take PTO in a situation like this.

I think it should be the same for either of the above....why should we have to use ANY of our PTO in order to get paid b/c they don't have enough work for us or if the system is down? A couple of weeks ago, I got a total of 10 hrs in one week (I'm full time) and had to use up all my PTO b/c of the NJA situation...total BS!

Did anyone else get the message from Massanotti? What do you think? Also, I went to medquist.com and was struck by the fact that they are marketing front-end dictation systems with SpeechQ, thereby eliminating transcriptionists altogether! I am not surprised, any way to get us out of the picture will make them more money. It just seems odd that they would tell us on one hand that they value us and then on the other try to get rid of us altogether.... ...
