one day about a month ago and never logged back on. I didn't give notice. I didn't tell anybody I was quitting. I just logged off and stopped typing.
A week later, I got an e-mail that I had 3 Major errors. Hmm...okay.
This week, I got a paycheck from them.
I applied, tested for, was interviewed, and hired for an hourly/administrative position with Nuance, but after all the software downloads, online training, and filling out legal paperwork... the day before I was scheduled to start working for them, they pulled the old familiar bait and switch... "I'm sorry, but that position has been filled. Would you be interested in an MT position?" I was furious that I had been duped but felt I had no choice except to take whatever income was available for the time being. My former position had been dissolved due to lack of work at my old company, and the 3 administrative positions I had been offered from other companies (before I settled on Nuance) were also already filled.
I had not been a straight MT for probably 15 years and it was physically hard for me to get back into the mode of just straight typing 8 hours a day, but I gave it my best shot. However, in a matter of 2 months' time, I wasn't even making a pauper's income due to the extreme overstaffing and/or lack of work, even though I was continuously asking for new accounts to fill the void and even changed my shift twice hoping that would solve the problem of never having enough work. I was good to get in 2 hours a day before they ran out of work during any shift I tried.
Thus, I found another job and just didn't show up at Nuance one day. The kicker? It took them 2 WEEKS to realize I hadn't been clocking in. Who wants to work for a company that doesn't even know you exist?
