A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
After 15 years with this company, I clocked out for the final time, gave my notice yesterday afternoon, and it feels so good.
At the age of 49, I want you all to know, you are never too old to find something new. I found a job with the Federal Govt. It takes time, but be patient and apply for anything that sounds interesting to you, you'd be surprised at how many jobs there are available that you are qualified to do. I have even found some transcription jobs available in some states.
While I am most happy to be leaving, I am also sad. Sad to leave a profession that I have loved, but sad that a company could treat a loyal employee so poorly. After going through skin cancer, suffering a tib-fib fracture and DVT, 5 procedures all within 5 weeks, to have a company say if I go on short-term disability I may not have a job to come back to or if they do let me come back, it may not be at the same pay (I'm currently at the highest rate), is just dispicable. Not to mention they had no problems with me working while I was on all sorts of pain killers. I decided then and there I was done. It took me a year, but I was patient and found a job that was right for me.
I wish you all well and encourage you to go to www.usajobs.gov, and explore what might be available in your area. It costs nothing to apply. Its worth it, you're worth it!
