I've seen a few posts about this in the past but can't find them now to review. Has anyone ever responded to Nuance's request to come back? If so, what happened? I got a call and wondered if they really need me because I'm good or have had such a mass exodus that if they don't get qualified people to work their accounts they'll be losing them and lots of money too. IMO, serves them right for what they did to those who worked loyally for companies that treated their MTs well only to get shafted after acquisitions.

I don't understand why they would be calling ex-employees to come back when most of their currently employees are experiencing lack of work on a regular basis.

I could not believe it. I actually laughed at the guy, said "you don't want me" I had a very bad attitude, I'm surprised my HR file wasn't flagged!

He offered me a signing bonus and shift differential (still no day shift available, but I had to stay on the same shift for 3 months. I had to say no.

What did they offer you to come back? I'm assuming they'd have to change something, or why would you ever want to come back?

They are so abusive and have no regard for those that so diligently worked on their behalf. I had never missed one single day, signed on late, or abused my work schedule. For that, I received endless abuse through FIESA (had almost 95% of their errors they claimed I made reversed), a TSM that was so busy kissing higher-up behinds never interested in us. Was not a hard email for me to ignore since I currently work for a wonderful MT company and LOVE what I am doing again without Nuance's endless BS.

I thought I had found a home for a long while when I went to work for one of the Nuance acquisitions. Empty promises of "nothing will change" quickly turned sour. If things never changed I would still be there.

I still work here (I want to quit), but if I was quitting and they asked me what they could do so that I'd stay, or like you, if I had changed jobs and they approached me again later, I'd be honest and flat-out ask for what I really want - which is a certain minimum number of hours per week, and a guaranteed minimum dollar amount per hour, of my own choosing (not cpl), and in writing. I'm certain they'd say No Thanks, but at least I'd be keeping my self-respect and letting them know I expect appropriate pay for my experience.

A few weeks ago I got a call from a Nuance recruiter - who saw my resume on Career Builders. He was professional at first, yet having read this board some - I knew exactly what to ask concerning salary. You should have heard him stumble and hem and haw and try - attempt - to explain the pay structure. It was quite pathetic. And now it has changed even more so. I am a former Transcend employee who went through that buyout from Nuance - and then Nuance fired me all because I missed a hastily scheduled meeting inadvertently. Whew. The way they continue to treat their highly skilled MLS is - perhaps, finally catching up with them and if this is so, it will not get any better.

I had to laugh, he kept saying if could do 100 lph, I could easily make 8.00/hour - excuse me, mimimum wage in my state is 12.00/hour! I said I can't pay my bills on 8.00 an hour. Then he started saying you can do much better than that, but I just laughed and said I wasn't making enough when I was making 15/hour, working 2 jobs even. PLus, if its edited lines, that's really 200 lph, which I can make straight typing and get twice the money for it. On my new job I average more than 200 straight typing.

I would encourage everyone to call their local DOL about this issue. When we sit here for 20-30 minutes typing a job and lose it due to no fault of our own, we should be compensated for the time that we sat here. I left a message for my local DOL, hopefully will get a call back, but it seems to me that constitutes not getting paid for hours worked, which is illegal. I quit Nuance over a year ago and just recently sent computer back (their delay, not mine). I'm supposed to get computer deposit money back but haven't yet. Sorry QC was put on the grid and suffering losses (like we have), but from my point of view the more of them leave, the more work left for us. Isn't that horrible we are reduced to feeling that way about our co-workers??? Some QC say they are not allowed to do MT unless the account is behind, some say they are allowed when they run out of work. I am considering requesting this pay which (depending on the state) considers us to be on-call and must be paid for part of our shift if no work. Hello, I would like to transcribe from home again. However, I HAVE to get up and walk for a few minutes at least once an hour. You see, I had to have 2 back surgeries in the last 18 months. Just wanted to add my voice to the growing chorus of long-timers leaving the Q finally. The account I worked on for 15 years just up and vanished Monday - without a word to any of us. I applied for, and got, a job offer within minutes of sending my resume. I know MQ has beaten us all down over the years, but there are actually other companies and people who appreciate our abilities and stamina to say with such a company for so many years in spite of it all :) ...

Curious, as to those getting out of MT, where are you going? I am soooo dissatisfied with this profession today. My wages are half what they were hourly only 4 years ago (VR for me is not profitable). The account specs get more and more complicated and you have to work on at least 5 or 6 accounts to keep work.
