Leaving MQ 2 w/o notice what can they do? - sickofit

Does anyone know if MQ can take some of your check that is due to arrive, already approved, if we suddenly just quit and leave? What can they do if we don't give a 15-30 day notice????? How soon do they want their old computer back? Any information about leaving without notice is really appreciated!!!!

I was told I would not be eligible for rehire at MQ w/o working a notice. I chose to do this for a variety of reasons. Have not looked back.

Got my shipping labels to return computer and LCD monitor about 3 weeks after terminating. Call and they will ship you boxes, otherwise you have to get them yourself.

REHIRE? Well I would worry about that if I lived in India because CBay is the only game in town in India. But CBay is effectively quashing American MQ out of existence, so why worry about rehire?

I would tell the OP to JUST QUIT. You will get your paycheck, they cannot keep money you have already earned.

Like I said, I don't care if I am in the middle of a report, as soon as I get the call that I can start my new job, I will ABANDON that report, call and email my CCM to say GOODBYE AND GOOD RIDDANCE and pack up the computer and be done with MQ FOREVER.

I can't wait until that day comes.

All I know is you have to give a 2 weeks notice - for rehire.

A company will check your references, previous employers. They even ask on your form, "Can we notify your previous employer, yes or no and if not, WHY?"

Your new employer will call your previous employers and are allowed to ask, "Is this individual recommended for rehire?" And there ya go. That is all HR is required to say, Yes or NO for rehire. Then your new employer will decide what to do.

You don't HAVE to do anything. As former HR - staff we heard/saw it all . . .

The two week notice is a COURTESY.

All MQ by law is allowed to do is give your hire and leave dates and verify employment. They can add information if they want, but information from former employers is what it is. We saw many times employers give GLOWING reports to employees that were way less than acceptable. We got reports back from former employers that employees were not so good when they turned out to be GREAT employees.

So it is looked at but not taken for gospel.

And not to mention YOU CAN DISPUTE anything that MQ has to say.

I would leave this place without a notice.

BECAUSE THEY WILL FIRE YOU WITHOUT A NOTICE AND NOT EVEN BLINK AN EYE.

Sorry QC was put on the grid and suffering losses (like we have), but from my point of view the more of them leave, the more work left for us. Isn't that horrible we are reduced to feeling that way about our co-workers??? Some QC say they are not allowed to do MT unless the account is behind, some say they are allowed when they run out of work. From the length of time we have been suffering from OOW I have to believe they can and do jump in on our work when out of QC ...

Just wanted to add my voice to the growing chorus of long-timers leaving the Q finally. The account I worked on for 15 years just up and vanished Monday - without a word to any of us. I applied for, and got, a job offer within minutes of sending my resume. I know MQ has beaten us all down over the years, but there are actually other companies and people who appreciate our abilities and stamina to say with such a company for so many years in spite of it all :) ...

Curious, as to those getting out of MT, where are you going? I am soooo dissatisfied with this profession today.
