Geez..are there ANY good transcription companies out there to work for? - MT2

After reviewing all of the posts in here (which I am thankful for) I'm scared to work for any of them. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm down to bread and butter, here. Thank you!

It sure is hard to find a "good" company, one who appreciates a good MT and one who pays well. Or, am I asking too much?

I dont believe there are companies heard around this board that "appreciate" or "pay well." There might be some local hospitals that pay well, or some some mom and pop company that appreciates their MTs, but I think the combination is just not there.

I dont look for appreciation anymore. I just found a platform I can deal with and a schedule that fits my life, and the rest of it I can handle.

I had a very mean and abusive father, an ex-husband, and a current mother-in-law from hell, so I am well versed in being treated badly. I can handle anything they throw at me. As far as the pay, well, I just have simple pleasures now and changed my lifestyle until I can get up enough courage to break free of transcription.

I hope you find a company that you can deal with. The big secret is to just do your work, stay quiet, and if they get on you, smile and say, "I will do better and thank you for your guidance."

I wish a bunch of us MTs could get together and own our own, you know? I know it's been done on a small scale, but it's just a shame all of us hard working, honest folks have to tolerate so much. I know what you mean about abusive father's, husband's and I even had an abusive brother and mother. So, I understand what you're saying. Thanks for the advice!

There is no such thing as a company who appreciates and/or pays well, not in my experience.

I also don't look for appreciation because the majority of these companies feel we should appreciate them for giving us a job that pays a pittance.

My father was also verbally abusive but I do have a wonderful husband. I also have a daughter-in-law who ascended from the nether regions (yes there are demonic DILs out there...not just MILs)and I can take low blows with the best of them.

Do your job and, when you mess up, smile and nod in aquiescence because you are replaceable, or so it seems.

I believe there are happy MTs at many companies - see msg.

If you go by everything you read here, you probably wont be likely to read anything good about these companies. Believe it or not, there are happy MTs at Nuance, MModal, Accentus, Keystrokes, etc.

I believe happiness is based on the individual and what they put into their work. Of course there are some who are unfortunate to work for bad team leads and everyone has had their fair share of QA nit-picking, but that can happen no matter where you work be it factory, office setting, where ever.

And there are still companies out there who pay more than 3 and 4 cents per line for speech recognition.

But if you are looking to find a bunch of positive posts here and happy campers, you have come to the wrong place. Most here are unhappy.

we are happy as we can be under our set of circumstances but we are by no means ecstatic about the fact we have to work long hours just to make a fairly decent pay check. I believe the majority of us love what we do..we just aren't happy about our pay scale and, those who are, are making a decent wage without having to put in the long, tedious hours...or they are content with what they make. We all have different circumstances. We're all going to feel different about those circumstances.

I have been working for an excellent company for seven years. Unfortunately, they were put out of business by a bunch of poachers from one of the national MTSOs. We were well paid and treated like gold. I'm certainly getting discouraged by reading more and more on this board. I used to work for MModal when it was Medquist and they seem just as bad on here. TTS has bad reviews. Seriously other than working at an office, which simply isn't feasible for me, are there any reputable, legit companies out there?
