Adds insult to injury - BZB

Posted: Dec 11, 2012

To have the percentage of stuff that goes to QA be a factor in the bonus.  They are just encouraging people to send through stuff that truly is not decipherable (even numbers).  Plus, how fair is it when you have one truly unavoidable blank in a 19-minute report and ALL those lines get counted as having been sent to QA?  Motivating people to send through incorrect reports just could put me over the edge as far as leaving.

I believe QC submission percentage is based on # of reports, not # of lines? - sm

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

It could be worse. I think M*Modal doesn't allow over 5% QA submissions?

It is based on number of lines, - which they manipulate

The percentage of lines sent to QC is definitely based on the number of lines, not the number of reports. I know this from my personal experience of having challenged two denials of incentive, both of which I won. But to do so, I had to show them that either I did not send the percentage of lines to QC that they claimed I did, or that the reason I had to send certain reports to QC was beyond my control (split dictations, bad audio, discrepancies in the dictation, or other reasons for which we are specifically directed to pend jobs).

In the most recent case, they claimed that I missed the 15% cut-off by--what a coincidence!--just a few itsy-bitsy little percentage points. I had a good sense of how many lines I pended to QC that pay period, and I didn't believe it. What they didn't know was that I keep records for every single job I process, including whether or not I pended the job, to whom I pended the job, and why I pended the job. So I went back and analyzed how many lines the jobs I pended to Nuance in that pay period represented (getting the line count from Alt-X in EditScript). It came nearly 1000 lines short of the amount I would have had to pend to reach the percentage they said I pended. I asked my supervisor about it, and she sent me a screenshot of a listing from her program that listed the jobs I pended. The line count again came to roughly what I had calculated and nowhere near the percentage they claim I had pended. I entered a formal dispute and requested a listing of the job numbers that constituted the lines they claimed I had pended. I never got that information; for some reason, they could not provide it. I had to ask my supervisor several times what the status of my dispute was. She would reply only that she had forwarded it on and would let me know when she got a reply. Weeks went on, and still no reply. Then I noticed that the email thread concerning my formal dispute had disappeared from the company-controlled email. I reinstituted the dispute and finally got an answer, 6 weeks after I had first entered it, that yes, I did earn the incentive that pay period and it would be included on the next paycheck. But there was never any explanation of why there was such a large discrepancy between the number of lines they claimed I pended and the number of lines they actually pended.

My own explanation is: They manipulate the percentage of lines sent to QC (along with other variables, like the ridiculous, petty, and often blatantly incorrect QC penalties) as a means to deny the production bonus to MTs who would otherwise deserve it. They did not know that I kept my own records and would be able to dispute their claim. They could not provide me a list of job numbers that I pended to make up their claimed total because that total was a scam.

And yes, if you have a long job and have to pend it for whatever reason, even for a reason beyond your control, all those lines will count against you in determining the percentage sent to QC for that pay period.

Disgusting. Good for you though! - My line counts NEVER match up to theirs. nm

Yes, you're definitely right, # of lines, not # of reports. Thanks. - double-checked with my TSM (nm)

MDI/Transcend Adds Insult To Injury
Nov 24, 2009

when they cut your pay and then ask you to absorb the printing and mailing costs of the ridiculous "new hire documents" for people who were innocently going along, doing their daily work, when out of the blue they were told of being merged into another company.  Now really, is any of this OUR fault??  Like somebody said before, we are the faithful backbone of MDI and now we are being treated like scum off the street.  I cannot for the life of me figure out why they need us to fill ...

I Cannot Believe How Many Words MM ASR Adds.
Jan 25, 2013

MM ASR adds a lot more than it leaves out now, and a lot of what it adds, unless you listen to every single word and correct it, is dangerous to patient care - if it slips through. Seems like they are now adding 'canned' text when the program hears certain words whether or not the doctor said it. Plus, it adds a other words along the way, most often no, and in very dangerous places. ...

I am at about the last straw with this company.  Just a few minutes ago I got an e-mail from TSM about the "gym membership reimbursement" program.  It was to remind us "full-timers" to get our attendance records in to HR so that we can get reimbursement. Now, I have never even heard of this program.  I was a full-timer until earlier this year when I got knocked down to part-time because of their ridiculous $900 requirement, which they made impossible to reach with their %#@& ...

I REFUSE TO ACCEPT 7 TO 8 CPL WITH 20 YEARS EXPERIENCE-IT IS AN INSULT TO ME
Aug 11, 2010

I have been testing all week. Some companies will not even discuss pay until you take their tests. Then, I waste my time taking these tests only to be offered 7 and 8 cpl. It is absolutely offensive to me to offer me that low pay. You want all of my years of experience, but only want to pay "newbie" rates. I am completely and wholeheartedly giving up on this profession. ...

Has Anyone Tried This For Back Injury?
Oct 11, 2013

Has anyone tried transcribing from a laptop away from their desk at home, maybe from the couch or in a reclining position while recuperating from a back injury? I recently injured my back. On days off when I'm not sitting in my office chair, I feel much improved. But as soon as I sit down to work, the pain returns like the day I injured it. Even with taking frequent breaks to stand up and walk around, I can barely stand up straight or walk after my shift and feel like I return to square ...
