has anyone tried this for back injury? - anon

Has anyone tried transcribing from a laptop away from their desk at home, maybe from the couch or in a reclining position while recuperating from a back injury? I recently injured my back. On days off when I'm not sitting in my office chair, I feel much improved. But as soon as I sit down to work, the pain returns like the day I injured it. Even with taking frequent breaks to stand up and walk around, I can barely stand up straight or walk after my shift and feel like I return to square one after each work day. I have tried 2 different chairs and different back supports with the chairs. Just wondered if anyone had tried this, rigged up an alternative work station for a short period of time. Thanks

I have back problems. The only problem with a recliner is using a foot pedal. If you have easy keyboard audio controls there should be no problem using a recliner. The right pillow(s) or folded blanket should hold the keyboard. You could even use a pillow under your knees to reduce stress on the back and maybe use your thighs to hold the keyboard. Good luck!

desk to a comfy chair after about 4 hours, mainly due to butt numbness, but I find it makes this tedious job somewhat more tolerable. I have also been known to recline fully in bed when I'm especially tired of sitting up, and like OP said, this would be more doable using KB controls, but I still prefer messing with the foot pedal.

I take it you use the foot pedal while in the recliner? Sounds wonderful if you can secure that foot pedal in the right spot!

To have the percentage of stuff that goes to QA be a factor in the bonus. They are just encouraging people to send through stuff that truly is not decipherable (even numbers). Plus, how fair is it when you have one truly unavoidable blank in a 19-minute report and ALL those lines get counted as having been sent to QA? Motivating people to send through incorrect reports just could put me over the edge as far as leaving. ...

Hello, I would like to transcribe from home again. However, I HAVE to get up and walk for a few minutes at least once an hour. You see, I had to have 2 back surgeries in the last 18 months. I've been a transcriptionist for many years and this is my profession. Does anyone have a suggestion what to tell these companies that will hire you to work from home when you have to get up so much?
