The only ones I recommend are, in the following order:
1. Andrews.
2. M-TEC.
You MUST have:
1. The SUM program.
2. Real, live instructors (as opposed to an answer key).
See my posts below for longer explanation. Good luck!
P.S. Don't even consider the various "institutes" and schools that advertise in women's magazines. Many MTSOs will not hire from their schools because their grads are not prepared to for the MT world.

MT work is on its way out. I have been doing transcription for 6 years and have watched the work steadily decline. In the past two months it took a sharp nosedive because of the Electronic Medical Record. This is slowly being implemented all over the country and I've lost about half my work since this happened. It's just going to keep getting worse because of government regulations and doctors not wanting to pay MTs. I'm going to go back to school for something else and would advise very strongly for you to do the same. I really wish I could be more encouraging for you, but you should spend your education dollars elsewhere.

MT Training - Reputable Schools Sep 19, 2013Hello,
Can someone reccomend a good MT course. It is for my mother. Her position as Medical Records Reviewer was phased out and she has had no luck finding a position since relocating to be with our family in Alabama. She also has a background in nursing.
Unfortunately, she is every salesmans' dream. She is currently considering CareerStep. Huge red flags there!
Also, schools that work with fasfa aould be even better.
Thanks in advance,
Christina ...
Accredited And Reputable Transcription Schools... Apr 02, 2011What is the best Online MT school? I am currently doing alot of research on schools for MT and am finding that there are TONS of options and I am getting confused as to what is an isn't important. I've been told to check accreditation on both the ahdionline.org website and the chea.org. However, not all schools are listed on both sites... This may be a silly question, but does anyone have a certain school that they recommend? Currently I have a Bachelors of Scie ...
Reputable Companies? Jan 10, 2012I have applied to medtrans and MedGarde...both who have shown some interest. I am fairly new transcriptionist, looking for work as an IC....anyone know anything about either of these companies? I have ready so many posts about people being treated badly by different companies and I don't want to be one of them who learns to hate a field I really enjoy working in.
Thanks! ...

Reputable Accounts/Hospitals Mar 01, 2014We just lost one of the most respected hospitals in the country to EPIC. I have a phobia about working on disreputable accounts -- the kind that hire non-English-speaking physicians who prey on old, senile, demented individuals and do consult after consult after consult. The physicians speak little to no English and in my opinion it is all an insurance scam that the disreputable hospitals happily participate in. Now I have no choice but to be a hippocrit and work on these types ...

Coding Schools - Where Did YOU Go? Jun 01, 2010Okay, here we go again.....if anyone has attended a coding school in the last year, is attending a coding school, could you please post your thoughts (was it worth the money, quality, etc)? I know several people are still on the fence as to whether to pay the large sum to go to a private school (Andrews, DeVry) or attend community colleges in preparation to take their credentials in coding. I've been reading posts saying the education from all is basically the same, of course it ...

Do These Schools Use The SUM Program? Jan 11, 2012I'm researching MT schools and weighing the various pros and cons. Licensed Schools Aug 10, 2012I learned from someone who found out the hard way that it's important to make sure whatever school you go to is licensed by their state. The information is supposed to be displayed on their website and any other catalogs or ads. If not, there may be a problem. The school in question would tell everyone their state didn't require a license. It turned out that the school kept moving not only from state to state, but from country to country and the state they had been living in did requir ...
Penn Foster Schools Jan 04, 2010I am currently finishing my schooling from Penn Foster and I guess I didn't do enough research before I signed up for Penn Foster and now I'm regretting it. Ever since I've been hearing all the negative comments about Penn Foster I don't even want to finish the course even though I am on the last lesson. Just getting discouraged and want to know if anyone took Penn Foster courses and found a job. Totally new on this whole MT thing and if you have any information about getting ...
Connection Between Companies/MT Schools? Feb 07, 2010Have to admit I'm pretty shocked by several of the posts on this forum, especially concerning how the companies are operating. New to the MT world here, and guess I'm green. Hadn't heard much at the school I attended except this forum was "too negative." I now see there's a legit reason for negative posts about companies if these posters are being honest, and I have no reason to believe they're not.
Just wondering how tight a connection the MT schools ...

Before You Commit To Coding Schools May 16, 2011Hi all,
I just wanted to say, before you commit to a coding course, make sure you have enough time to study! I started Andrews School last year, and right after I started I found out I was pregnant. I work a full time job and now have a new baby. After I completed the first module and started the second module, I was so stressed out I needed a break, now I am having trouble getting back into the swing of things and finding the time to study. My entire tuition is paid for and I ...
Coding Schools - Andrews Jul 14, 2011In my opinion, you cannot go wrong with Andrews.
I went through their medical transcription training course and did very well with my job search. Based on my training at Andrews, I have not had a problem with employment tests, passing the RMT and CMT, etc., and with the coding program, as long as I study hard and do the assignments, I believe that I will have the same experience.
Based on the excellent training I received at Andrews, I am beginning to go through the coding course. The ...

Choices Of Schools For Coding Jan 10, 2012I am trying to sort through the different options out there for education in coding - is there an online school that most of you would recommend? I am officially out of MT'ing after 20 years, threw up my hands, literally, gave up trying to make a living at it. I would probably use up half of my savings for schooling, but after many months of trying on different "hats", so to speak, in the work force, my heart is pulling me back to the medical field. Opinions??? ...
