layoff and unemployment - for part time MTs

beyond smarmy, they terminated the part time MTs because when they apply for unemployment (and they are without question able to get it because their jobs were eliminated) they will find the govt will document the last five quarters of their employment and base their rate of pay on a percentage of that. This will probably reflect a very low rate of unemployment insurance compensation that no one can live on, and thus not apply for unemployment. BUT if enough people do get unemployment compensation, MM will have an increased unemployment tax rate and have to pay part or all of your compensation in the form of unemployment for the first 26 weeks. And to make the managers make that call, really low, low, low. The people making the decision don't even have to give the news!!!!!

As I have been saying, for those not laid off, you need to contact the national because my state wanted a layoff date. I told them I was not laid off and they said I did not qualify, but after an extensive conversation with the national, they contacted my state and coordinated things. I actually know someone from another state who said the national they talked to could not help, so I am in the process of trying to get through to the person I talked to and have them figure out how to get these people in tune with our unusual case because people are being denied when they shouldn't be. As far as the people laid off, you will have no problem. Others, be insistent when you talk to the national and tell them you know you qualify (as long as you meet the 20% less stipulation) and they need to research this case better.

As you can see, partially separated and threatened with layoff apply (sitting with no work all day is a threat of layoff.

They told me they had never had another employer who did not lay off, so they had to handle it differently. Obviously people who were laid off will have no problem.

Wondering....was forced to change from statutory employee to IC status with federal ID number instead of SS# when MDI-MD was rolled into Transcend. Start getting paperwork documentation in order NOW. Here's hoping you don't need it, but you will be that much further ahead if you do. Have to send in weekly gross wages, which MMODAL say they can't let me know that until 3 days before payday, which does not work, as I have to report WEEKLY or I lose benefits for that one week. Because my employer dictated my hours per week, per day and the time I was to work unemployment considered that to be an employee status and NOT IC even though they didn't pay my taxes. Hi guys, I just filed for unemployment. I worked in a hospital and was laid off because of VR. I was paid 10.07 an hour plus incentive, which made me average about 17.00 an hour.
