Recently fired from Nuance - an account I worked at 10 years before they even existed! Anyway...is there anyone out there that has received unemployment from this joke of a company?

But why were you fired? If you were fired for cause (didn't show up at work), that's different than if you were "laid off." Can't collect unemployment for being fired for cause. Most places will fight your initial claim for unemployment but eventually give in without too much effort on your part. Your local unemployment office should be able to help you.

Not meeting their LPH requirements, which seems to be their excuse across the board. I will apply but I was just curious if anyone had actually received unemployement benefits from them. If so, the benefits won't be much less than what they pay now - which is close to minimum wage! SAD!!!

I know about half the people on some of my accounts aren't consistently making LPH because we get a chart every PP. When the urgent, SOS, red alert emails are nonstop for weeks, and the TSMs actually say in email after email that they are begging for help, that patient care is being affected, and that the client is very unhappy, and they are asking for extra, extra, extra, with OT approved for weeks and weeks, isn't that just shooting themselves in the foot to fire people because they aren't quite as fast as they want them to be? I guess 0 LPH is better for them than 130 or 140 then? Who in management makes these decisions? Crazy. Unless for some odd reason they are TRYING to lose all their accounts.

Perhaps Nuance is performing in their other modalities such as agriculture and construction, etc., but for some reason management for the healthcare component is wholly inadequate. I was told for months I would get more work, but was OOW at least 2 days out of my week even though other accounts were screaming SOS! The SOS was on a regular basis and was never staffed correctly. The flow is anything but smooth. Who is watching this? If I can figure that out then why can't the team leads or management higher up? I got tired of being dependable to a non compos mantis company that was essentially failing me, as well as themselves and their clients and I finally quit after a year of wanting to be fired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is so crazy! I got tons of those SOS emails or OT approved on a daily basis. I literally got fired for 1 week of 158 LPH and 1 week for 162 when the lines required are 168 per hour. I went from making 35,000 a year 5 years ago to makeing 15,000 the last few years. SERIOUSLY!!!

(I am the one who said I wasn't trying to be nosy) They would have to pay you unemployment, like any other company would that fired someone. And again, going into your unemployment office can help you straighten this out. (You can "check in" on line while you are collecting unemployment but you have to physically go in every once in a while anyway.) Good luck.

Right now I am not meeting line requirements but have not had MUP yet, so I wonder if it is the 2 together or if just not meeting LPH is enough to get fired.

I don't know if you have ever "tweaked" your hours...you know, when they say you have too many hours and not enough lines? They basically force you to work more than you actually get paid for. Anyway about your question - I did hit the MUP thing here and there but then my supervisor would ask me to "adjust" my time sheet. There is a class action lawsuit against transcend currently for those exact practices.

Apply the day/week you were let go as there is a waiting week with no benefits.

You can fight your cause with the State regarding benefits.

I just got the letter today that they are fighting my unemployment. I will update you all in the next week or so as I did file an appeal right back at them. :)

I have to tell you that I feel a bit better knowing that I am not the only one having a difficult time at Nuance. Do I fight to stay or do I jump off the wagon quick and look for another job before I am terminated?

I wouldn't jump, wait until you are pushed if it comes to that. I think if anyone can wangle UE out of this most cheapest of MTSOs, more power to them. Whether it is a tiny amount since you could only make minimum wage working for them, it is still better to make them pay for awhile.

I have been trying long and hard to find better. Half the companies end up being swallowed by Nuance or MModal before you even finish the interview! The other half offer even worse conditions and lower pay. So I would definitely hang in there as long as you can and force them to pay UE if possible.

Wondering....was forced to change from statutory employee to IC status with federal ID number instead of SS# when MDI-MD was rolled into Transcend.  Now, Transcend informs that they are NOT going to be employing ICs after Jan 1, 2011. Has anyone applied for unemployment when you have run out of work? Just wondering, you can - even if you have work on and off, but not enough, depending on what your state requirements are.  I can no longer survive like this anymore, work then no work - I have only made 100.00 in a week and a half.  Anyone in this occupation should be able to be retrained through EDD as this job is disappearing and we are being taken advantage of ....... Just won ...

Start getting paperwork documentation in order NOW.  Here's hoping you don't need it, but you will be that much further ahead if you do.   Even if you're not at risk of being fired, laid off could be possible and you would still need this. It could be at least 21 days from the time the question arose, before you receive an answer about benefits.  If your case is complicated in any way, it will take longer. So much fun filing for partial unemployment.  Have to send in weekly gross wages, which MMODAL say they can't let me know that until 3 days before payday, which does not work, as I have to report WEEKLY or I lose benefits for that one week.  Just have to guesstimate what I earned by line counts straight and VR, but can't figure shift differential or what they screw you out of if you send too many QAs.  I've reported this to ESD and let them handle it. YES!!!!!!!! Ladies and gentlemen there IS hope! Because my employer dictated my hours per week, per day and the time I was to work unemployment considered that to be an employee status and NOT IC even though they didn't pay my taxes. This was the decision made after my prior employer appealed my unemployment benefits from them. Hi guys, I just filed for unemployment. I worked in a hospital and was laid off because of VR. I was paid 10.07 an hour plus incentive, which made me average about 17.00 an hour. The unemployment folks are telling me that I cannot count that incentive pay and they will only go by the hourly of 10.07! That's NOTHING!
