Im do to start work with MQ Monday.  Is anyone happy there.  Ive have over 15 years experience and all the other companies were actually insulting with the offers, or only had IC, or never called back.  Please tell me someone is making money there.

my CCM left and so did my primary accounts. I got a new CCM and new accounts that are just horrible. My income is down about 40% in the past 4 months. I was happy with MQ up until that point. I hope you are blessed with a great CCM and accounts you can depend on to pay your bills. I have requested to be changed to a different division/account but no luck so far.

How was MedQuist NOT insulting with their offer?

They are the ones that forced all the other companies to drop their rates.

You don't get penalized on the Spheris accounts monetarily, and they allow up to 8% proofing, which is easy to stay under using OLC. You don't get threatened with losing your benes, either. I have never heard of a company doing like MQ and taking away benes for certain mishaps. If they start that on the Spheris side, everyone will just quit. Then they can send all the work to India. Someone should talk to the ACLU because they know that nearly all of their employees are female, so they think they can abuse them, constantly cut their pay, and take away benefits. I am serious. Someone is bound to help. AHDI isn't gonna help anyone but themselves and their pocketbooks. What a joke they are.

It is 8% or less. Fact. For acute care, too, cpl is .08 and ASR is .0534, then the weekend incentives of .01 cpl for transcription and something like .007 cpl for ASR..plus the incentive tiers start around 5200 and go from there.

I am horrified at the thought of any company taking benefits away from FT employees for any reason other than firing them. Is that even legal????

They will give you a 0.0005 cpl raise and then take away your incentive. This just happened to us in April. It will happen to the Spheris bunch also.

Unfortunately you have pros and cons any more in this business. I will say MQ is a good company. I am most fortunate to have a great supervisor. I think you will be happy. I know it is a sad state of affairs when you apply and never hear back from some of these places. If I can help you please do let me know. The VR is easy easy to learn. You can make money if you can keep your 98%. I would highly recommend you begin keeping reports of each and every doctor and that will help you tremendously. You will be happy I really think you will like MQ.

Again, it depends on how you look at the overall picture. Sure you have to keep 98%. Sure you are audited. Sure you make the VR pay. Sure you will make less if you send too much to QA. But, But, But, you can learn your account. You can save samples back from QA. (QA can be a good thing if you take it in the right way). Try it...it won't hurt to try it at all. VR has put us all into another arena that is not the one we would prefer, but just try. :)

I just want you to be excited about it. You don't need the worry over learning and then all the negative comments. Sure all of us have certain things that have set us back, but so far I have liked the company. Stay in good contact with your Superv and your QA person. Communication is the key. If you don't get answers right away. Write and write again. Okay! Good luck! You will be fine.

It's like MQ is 2 different companies (or just bipolar). I've had the same primary (no secondary, never out of work) since 1999. I still make 40K/year. My CCM is wonderful. I read this board, and it's like it's about some other company.

Every great once in a while somebody posts their wonderful salary and wonderful account and I get very depressed. I wish the company would post some kind of report that just shows a breakdown of the salaries. I am a good MT, I have basically all ASR, I have worked hard at it since day 1 so I know I am not a loser. How can there be such a difference in yearly income. Something is totally not right.

If you still make 40K/year I would sure watch my back if I were you.

Something is totally wrong here. Not that we didn't already know that, but proof once again.

My audits have always been great, I always work my shift, I have 10+ years in this business. Something is very wrong here.

and believe me I have been on this board for over 3 months looking for a decent company with decent benefits and decent pay. I have already been through 3 different companies (I wont name). They either bait and switch, they over-hire so u run out of work, or the the people you deal with are rude/stupid/condescening, take your pick. The add says one thing, but the after the interview what you saw isnt there anymore, but "we do have this." Hopefully I will get lucky and get the ?better half" of the company that some of you work for. Thanks

But from what we see on this board, there is a very tiny margin of the lucky ones. I would never wish any of us to get on the wrong side though.

I have a pretty good account and work second shift so I usually have enough work. End of good stuff. I have all ASR and it stinks! Maybe because my dictators stink. I have lost approximately 40% in pay and from what I have seen on this board that is about average.

So maybe starting new is the key to being happy, but another thing I must say, after returning a year ago to the Q, hope you don't believe everything you were told when they hired you.

Again, hope you are one of the lucky ones.

Totally agree with your assumption that something is very wrong here and like one other poster said above, it really is a crap shoot where you end up in this company and what gets put on your plate. You're right about telling that MT to watch her/his back as you never know when you get that phone call and/or email that slams you right in the face with no warning at all.

Same primary that does not run out of work, a great supervisor, 100% audits. I read about QAs who make rude comments. That just does not happen on my account. Very professional and polite. What can I say? I just thank God every day.

All I have to say to you is that you are truly the exception at MQ and really, really are so very lucky to be in that position since 1999 -- there's certainly someone sitting on your shoulder looking out for you and warding off all of the horrible things that this company has subjected the majority of their MTs to and not even flinch about it -- so sad for the other 99.99% of the MTs!!

If they could have done away with us they would have by now. Eventually even ASR pay will have to go up, because so many of us refuse to work for the insulting amount. I have to believe there is at least "1" company that will meet my needs, as well as I meet their needs. I will try to roll with the punches and give a true try. If it doesnt work out, at least I tried.

Not trying to discourage you in any way, but just being truthful -- be prepared for some pretty big punches. I would tell ya to make sure you got those gloves on, but it wouldn't make much difference -- their tactics are so below the belt that you won't see it coming. If you can stay positive, it will be for the best, but they get to the best of us and a lot of us have been here for some time. Good luck to you and like you said, give it a try and if it doesn't work, move on. If you don't have to stay as some do for various reasons, get the heck out of Dodge and find something else, preferably out of the transcription field - you'll have a much better life...

because they are not in the same boat as you are? MQ is like 2 different companies. I also have the same accounts for years, plenty of work and OT many weekends, a wonderful CCM and QA person, and still making decent money despite ASR. So, I guess I could question the ones on here saying different the same as they question the ones who are happy here, but don't because I do know that it all depends on the area you are in and know a few MTs personally who are not in a good service area of MQ, as well as MTs who are doing well in good service areas like I am. Don't be so quick to judge people you know nothing about.

be "different" and stand out and will take the opposing view just because. Maybe they were a middle child, or maybe there are 2 people in the team of 2500 MedQuist employees who have it made. I am happy for them that they have a good job, real or imagined. Perhaps they have never had a good job to compare this one to? I, too, try to be thankful and offer gratitude for my situation. I know that there are a lot of people in our country and especially other countries that have it really bad, but that doesn't change what MQ has done to a job that I liked 6 years ago.

The reason I ask is that I am currently an IC with another company that is only paying a lousy .065 after being with them for 1-1/2 years.  I'm also an RMT for what it's worth. MedQuist ate up AllType and spit out the Radiology MTs. They have cut our pay in half, and just in time for Christmas! I guess instead of saying Happy Holidays, we will be screaming Homeless for the Holidays. And the "Manager" won't even respond to emails. I've been at TTS for almost 3 years and I have nothing but positive things to say about TTS.  I never have to guess what TTS expects from me, and I do my best to deliver that on a consistent basis.  Communication flows freely and efficiently.  My team leader and 2 shift leads are EXCELLENT managers in my opinion.  Everything I invest in my job comes back to me and then some.  I can recommend TTS to anybody unapologetically. ...

I am surprised at just how many or your are miserable with what you do.  I am a new MT ans I am also having trouble finding work.  It's not easy.  I can see that having editing to fall back on would be good.  I have read the posts about don't do this just to work from home.  I have small children and my only choice would be daycare if I went to work somewhere, which would eat up half my pay check.  Sometimes it's not just money, sometimes it's fo ...

I am wondering if there is a single person on this forum who is an MT who is happy with their job (including the miniscule pay that would be appropriate compensation if it were around 1975 rather than 2013 or lived in another country in which one can buy a lot more with 50 cents). Sunday it will be 2 months I have been at my new position since leaving MM. I no longer need to take Prilosec daily and my dr. has decreased my BP med. Furthermore, I was asked after a month if I would like to do full time editing at 6 cpl AND I get paid for every single line I edit....not less than half that MM pays their MMEs. So far, every pay check has been on time and accurate. Two months out and I am making more than I ever made at MM and I expect it to increase as my skills get even b ...
