Hi, everyone. I was just wondering if there are any MTs out there that are happy with their jobs and are able to make some good money in this profession. I have read lots and lots of posts, and it seems like a huge percentage of the posts are about how bad people's jobs are and how little money they are making. I understand people need to vent, but there have to be some MTs that are happy and making money. I recently graduated from one of the top MT schools and am wondering if I spent a lot of time and money on a course that is not going to improve my current situation of working in a call center. I want to get a job that I don't have to deal with the public and MT would be a great fit. Anybody's comments are welcome. I would like to be assured that there are people who are happy and making money at the same time. Thanks in advance.
I have been an MT since 1979 and have worked exclusively in Pathology. I have never worked for an agency or independent contractor and I love it. I have a good reliable salary, great benefits and more than a constant supply of work. It would be my preference to work from home, but looks like that will never happen in my current position (I have been here since 1993). I would not however advise anyone to go into this field at this time. It is definitely a dying profession and I doubt there are 20 years left in this position as it is currently. I work for the largest medical system in out area and most people would give anything for a position here, so I know I am definitely blessed.
