I have been an MT for 8 years before moving up to the MME position recently. I told myself that I would never nitpick as I experienced in the past. I still hold true to that. We are to only fill in the blanks unless we note an obvious error, then its full QA, except we get paid the fill-in-the-blank line rate rather than 100% QA line rate (3 cpl rather than 4). However, if we fill in the blank and NOT catch an error that is caught on the MTs audit, we get clobbered (at least I do, more so than on a personal audit). It's all I can do to not do a 100% on all reports as the tongue (email) lashing can be disheartening. As an MME, we don't want to nitpick or go through your reports 100% if we don't have to as we make considerably less money doing so, but the trouble we get in for not catching an MT error is ridiculous.
I just wanted you all to know that we are all in the same boat, paranoid and scared. We don't get any pleasure from finding errors, at least I don't. Well, unless its an ILP, then I thoroughly enjoy tearing those apart as the errors are plenty.
