Today is my LAST day transcribing! I start my new job on Monday! I can't wait! Good-bye transcription! You were my bread and butter for about 15 years but transcription do not bring me any joy like it use to with all of the aweful changes!
Thank you to my manager for not answering my e-mails, for QA nitpicking me to death (despite on all my formal QA'd reports, I was always above 98%), thank you for not giving me a raise, thank you for treating me like because you motivated me to work my to finish school (I am still pursuing my bacherlor's degree), thank you for making me cry on some days in front of my computer just to make a living to help support my mom, thank you for making me dread almost every hour in front of my computer, thank for belitting me.................
But mark not my words, but I believe in the bible............ and basically what goes around come around. I know I need to ask for forgiveness of God for despising you, but at least I know I am wrong...................these managers and QA I don't think know they are wrong, which is pretty sad...........
Good-bye to this thankless, heartless industry!
I pray my fellow transcriptionist will find their way OUT as well, or at least the ones that want out!

[ In Reply To ..]Congrats for getting out. I have been in this business for almost 25 years. At first it was great but unfortunately the internet has changed all that. Now that we are anonymous they can treat us anyway they like. I have been waiting 2 weeks for work, all I am told is the doctors are still deciding if they want to stay with us. They were sending all their work to India and now the hospital has forced them to use a US based company. I too am planning on leaving the business, too much aggravation!! Good luck!!

[ In Reply To ..]Oooh I hope you get out soon! I was talking to a lady in my doctor's office the other day, she said with our background, we can be used in medical office, just to apply even if it didn't seem we qualified. So I hope you find work soon.
You definitely deserved BETTER! I am all for the transcriptionists leaving these "services" high and dry because they would do it to us in a New York minute.

[ In Reply To ..]Do they realize without us they are nothing. The only thing that the doctors care about it getting their reports back. They don't care about the higher ups, whose the QA, they don't even care about an occasional missing the, it, and or but. Without us they are nothing. The higher ups wouldn't be nothing without the MTs, that get treated like crap. The lower our wages go, the higher the higher ups go. How can they think we can live on 4 cents a line, when they just want more and more and more way more than 4 cents a line.

[ In Reply To ..]This should be what they post online when they are looking for employees to work for them. That was a great description of this field called medical transcription. A few years ago my friend asked me about this field she wanted to get into it, just because you can work at home. I told her it sucked and find something else. She was like, not believing me, but she finally found out I was telling the truth. This should be the universal description for the medical transcription field.

I really do hope you find another job and don't forget to apply with like hca.com. That's the website the nice girl told me about at the doctor's office. I think they are located in almost every state.

[ In Reply To ..]I quit almost 2 weeks ago during a shift after I ran out of work. Was already on QA and I was supposed to plug in all my passwords to this and that to sign my "yes, I am a bad transcriptionist" agreement and look at the "how to do this all better, dummy" instruction. None of my passwords worked. The initial emailed to ask me to explain my odd hours (OOW and some make-up time) and that was all I could tolerate.
In addition, most of the QA stuff was beyond trivial and I had to suppress laughter as the "performance manager" made such an effort to make it seem significant.
We dealt with their crap and it can now only get better. Cheers!

[ In Reply To ..]I could have written your letter 2 years ago. My sentiments exactly. I felt a huge weight lifted off me when I finally quit MT.
The only exception I make to your note is the QA part. I was in QA Dept and we were under some serious scrutiny ourselves and got into serious trouble if we didn't fix little things in a report that our supervisor thought we should have. I got some pretty nasty phone calls from my supe, and we also had a quota to make or we got in "deep stuff" if we didn't meet that, either.
Anyway, I'm happy for you. Enjoy your new challenge. As challenging as it was for me to buck up and quit this horrible job, I never felt a stress like I felt when I was working there. As we all know, several years ago, it was soooo good. It started to go bad in 2005, I'd say, then just got worse and worse and worse. I had several years before that, though, that were wonderful.
I never regret having gone into this career, because I am thankful for those good years.

Probably a negative for the patient, as I sincerely believe there is a bigger chance of their medical record being less than accurate. I have been an MT for 8 years before moving up to the MME position recently. I told myself that I would never nitpick as I experienced in the past. I still hold true to that. We are to only fill in the blanks unless we note an obvious error, then its full QA, except we get paid the fill-in-the-blank line rate rather than 100% QA line rate (3 cpl rather than 4). After struggling financially and being increasingly unhappy with my job for three years (yes, only three years) I am officially DONE with MT work. I have other skills that would be more fullfilling to pursue and i'm going to do it. Honestly, i'd settle for a job at a grocery store at this point. At least i'd have a steady paycheck. ITS HORRIBLE and you are barely making your lines for that night? This is like clockwork. I will have a good day of dictation, speakers that actually make sense eventhough the VR still stinks and high line counts...the very next day, I am stuck with the worst speakers out there and barely get anything done and line counts to make you cry. I had been feeling so fortunate, getting mostly good dictators in recent months, but now, in the past couple of weeks, all I'm getting are dictators with thick accents with bad sound quality and static or female dicators with high-pitched, monotone voices that are like fingernails on a chalk board.
