99.7% accurate or get fired.

I always start my evening by checking The Weather Channel's website. Amazingly, they had video of a ROUGE wave striking a diner. But it wasn't red at all! Finally, however, I checked back a few hours later, and this was finally corrected to a ROGUE wave striking a diner. Wonder what happened to the person who initially posted it...

And this is what I don't understand. I failed several reports, I guess, caught by the facilities because it wasn't counted as a failed audit. Several I put an extra word and maybe a missed punctuation, nothing that is going to hurt someone even remotely. Then as I am going through my day to day trying to figure out what the doc is saying, I go into past reports and the mistakes are amazing, wrong equipment (sounds right but it isn't), wrong meds, wrong terms in the physical exam that are not even remotely close. Where and how do these keep popping up? and why are they acceptable? Then I get some QA back that I sent through, yes you figured the term, but..the word before it is now not in the correct format and that didn't get fixed. BUT I'm the terrible person not reaching 99. whatever it is now percentage. 20 years in this, I wish they would fire me.

I don't think it matters what you do. They have a reason for keeping or letting each and every one of us. There has to be something they go by. Or maybe it's just the fairies of the Universe/higher path, whatever you want to call it guiding our lives. But I have had more than one report come back and kept expecting the phone call. Never came.

when my lines went down to inattention, burn out, whatever you want to call it, that I was considered a "critical" employee due to my schedule and they asked me if anything in my life was going on, etc and they wanted to help me any way they can. I do believe a lot of it has to do with the coverage you provide.

subjective by the auditor. The "rules" are open to interpretation by the auditor reviewing the particular report. It's not like one is being "fired" because they wore red and the rule said they had to wear blue. There is no concrete error basis here except as perceived by the individual auditor and to base firings on that is just completely wrong. Now, I'm not talking about a blatant critical error as those are obviouly obvious. i'm talking about all these other inconsequential errors that drag a report down below the rquired quality score. I do believe the objective here is to get rid of the experienced and bring in the brand spanking new MLS so that they can pay them lower rates. Look at the ads. Nuance appears to be doing that also, asking for new graduates and 1 year experience. I'd love to know how much money was spent on the team who devised this plan. Of course, millions more will then need to be spent on what to do with those new graduates and inexperienced MLS and their scores. It's just really sad what this whole thing has come to.

the swampland of muffled, botched, barely audible, static-laden sorry excuse of a dictation, it is so so so much easier for the auditor to pick out nuances and tiny errors. In the meantime, our ears are bleeding from listening to the horrendous slop.

As an MME, I've been asked if my audio is better since I'm able to hear things that the MT could not. There answers is a definite no. If anything, it would be worse as it is another step removed from the source. What I believe happens is that the MT has already spent a good deal of time slogging through garbage their ears/mind become "numb" and just kind of start shutting down. Once the report is passed to someone new, the ears are fresh and are only hearing a localized portion.

Could not have said that better myself. So very true. We wade through the slop, clean it up, and woe to us if we miss a hiccup.

Yesterday (Sun) was a nightmare. I was struggling to get jobs all day long (see posts below). There were very few last night even, when there are normally an abundance of jobs. So I was at a local clinic today that had switched over to a dropdown menu system and templates for their doctors a couple years ago and had laid off their transcriptionists and the doctor was just typing away in his template and of course I had to mention how as a medical transcriptionist this really bothered me. He told me that many of the doctors there were unhappy with the new system and had gone back to dictating and that they were more than likely going to be hiring transcriptionists ...

So many of us have been "gobbled" up by Nuance in the last few years. So many of us are transcriptionists with specialized, honed skills, and those skills are valuable. I'll never get off QA at this rate. I would probably like the account if I could get past all this picky this, that and the other. I am beginning to think that everything I know is absolutely wrong! I failed my audit, which is only the 2nd time in my 12 years here that I actually had an audit. I am being marked wrong for things like eponyms, which in BOS 2 is acceptable to use, but preferred to drop the 's, but is still acceptable.
