This doctor is going way too fast. Even when we slow him down, he is going sooooo fast. Here is the sentence we have been stuck on!

The patient ___ sedation to the right. The abdomen is prepped Beta and scrubbed Beta solution and draped in usual fashion.

Same doctor, same dictation:

The area was checked for hemostasis, closed with 3-0 Vicryl of the subcutaneous tissue and 4-0 Vicryl ___ skin and steri-strips.

what is prepped beta and scrubbed beta solution? - 15 years, never heard that

I think on the second sentence, it should be
"3-0 Vicry FOR THE subcutaneous tissue"

There is no way to tell on these blanks unless you can do a "sounds like"or something. It could be almost anything

I think that beta solution is BETADINE SOLUTION, by the way.

He says Beta, so I have to type Beta and not Betadine.

It sounds like The patient SPONGES TIMES with sedation, but I KNOW that is NOT it. He talks so fast. Ha!

I think we could come up with a million things it COULD be but it's not up to us to guess. If you don't know, it's smart to leave a blank. Perhaps he'll learn to speak a little more plainly if he continues to see blanks.

Rule #1: NEVER guess at what's being said. Even though they should read what you've done before signing it, it's YOUR butt on the line!!

I think if the right word is said and I actually hear it then its right and I will put it, but if it does not sound like it, I will leave a blank. Thank you again!! All help is appreciated to help me figure this out :)

He's forever dropping the second half of "Betadine".

I'm not sure about that first blank, unless it refers to hose placement. As for the rest: "The abdomen was prepped with Betadine, scrubbed with Betadine solution and draped in usual fashion." and "The area was checked for hemostasis, closed with 3-0 Vicryl for the subcutaneous tissue and 4-0 Vicryl for the skin and Steri-Strips.".

If you're on verbatim, I guess you'd just have to put "Beta" in quotes and roll on. If you think you're hearing "subcuticular" after the 4-0 Vicryl, you probably are.

Afraid I'm not being much help, but you have my deepest sympathy on this guy...

Lots of blanks today. Getting reports from an account I hate. Doctors aren't entering ADT information correctly. Doctors aren't caring a bit whether they are hard to understand or hear. Horrible ASR output. And 4 cents a line just isn't worth the extra effort, especially as my count is barely making minimum today because of the reasons above. My patience and tolerance is gone.
