Okay M*Modal, what good is our insurance anyway? - debye

I'm venting here. I've been on the phone for a couple of hours trying to find an eye doctor that accepts our insurance. I went as far as 50 miles away and there is nothing. Their site gives you who they say accepts the insurance, but when you call to verify it you are told...no, we con't accept Cigna Vision/Cigna. What are we paying for anyway. I've had an appointment set up for 2 months for an eye doctor and they called this morning to say my insurance wasn't accepted. They don't accept Cigna Vision or Cigna. So why are they on the list as acceptable eye doctors. I called 6 others on the list and got the same answer. I have a medical problem with my eyes. Floaters are attached to my retina so when I look out of my left eye it is blurry, and by the time my 8 hours are up i can barely see the monitor. I am so frustrated right now I could scream. I have never had an issue finding vision provider. Do - you have Walmart vision centers

[ In Reply To ..]My appointment was for tomorrow at Walmart Vision Center. I went ahead and kept the appointment but I am going to have to pay out of pocket. The one here in Fayetteville says they do not accept CIGNA now at all. This sucks.

[ In Reply To ..]I too have a floater in my left eye and it's massive. It completely covers my vision and follows wherever I look. Add that to a macular hole and epiretinal membrane I have a hard time seeing with the left eye. I know your appointment is at Wal-Mart and I apologize if I'm wrong, but I think Wal-Mart doctors are all optometrists and you will have to see an ophthalmologist. More than likely a retina specialist (as they are the only ones who can "fix" a floater. You may want to do a little more research before forking over payment after payment after payment if you end up not being able to use insurance and have to pay out of pocket. I wish you luck!

If they don't take CIGNA at all I am mainly going just to see if there is anything that can be done or if I have to just live with it. I will do further investigations once I know exactly what I am "looking" at (I hope). Thanks for responding.

I have been told in the past the doctors have to jump through more hoops to get reimbursed and it's just too much of a hassle. I wish there was an insurance out there that actually thought of the patient instead of the bottom line. They sure love raking in the money, but when it comes to paying it out they fight it tooth and nail. Come on companies, find a decent insurance company that employees can use!

I have another question. When one does a draft in VR, does MT get paid for all lines in the draft or would an MT get paid if it has to be edited.
