After reading about this horrific layoff, I notice this:

MModal is conducting a Recruitment drive exclusively for Medical Transcriptionists, Direct Uploaders, Direct Posters, Quality Analyst & Editors at Bubhaneshwar.

The recruitment drive is scheduled from 6th April to 8th April 2013.

I really don't understand what is happening. Many people were laid off, my mgr says it's rumor, I saw an ad on MT Jobs, now the recruitment drive. Very odd.

We try and "spread the wealth (uggh)" and be nice and be international....and this is what happens. They get "nationalistic" and take away our jobs because every country cares about itself FIRST and FOREMOST. I guess "nice" doesn't work that often.

I don't believe Nice meant the Indian employees but was referring to the Indian owners of MModal shifting all the work from US to India for cheaper labor and more profits and $$$ in their pockets!!

I was generalizing. By Indians, I mean the people in charge of them, who run the company....the governments, etc.....Don't you dare make me out to be prejudice. My parents were Polish immigrants who worked in factories. I saw how badly my mother was treated by her boss(es) in those sweat factories (not an exaggeration). She literally died working overtime. It's not a rumor no matter what your TSM said. Many part timers were laid off yesterday. I can't say for sure but I would not be surprised if there are more changes in the works.

Why is MModal posting job openings, when so many of use are running out of work or worse falling into the pool--what with the pay cuts, VR being paid half even though it takes nearly as long to edit most reports, and the fact that I only get my "primary" accounts about 30% of the time and the rest of the time I am typing from the pool so that nearly every report that comes up is a new facility or dictator, I have gone from making $16 an hour to minimum wage. I see so many complaints about MModal. Does anyone actually like them? I'm in the hiring process and they are calling with an offer. I would like to try it out. I work in-house now, but eventually my position will be eliminated due to VR. I do not make that great of pay, and have lots of down time, but still have to sit in the office all day.
