MModal asks for your SS# on the application process of applying for jobs there!!! Thanks to some of you, I ran ran ran from this place. When I inquired about how uncomfortable I was with sharing my SS#...I was told to just use any number. WHAT?!!? Then why have it there!!! Who in their right mind would give their SS# to a company that hasn't even hired them yet. I agree with the rest of you. RUN SALLY RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

That is fairly typical. Dollar General asks, Target asks, my husband who works in IT has had it asked BEFORE hiring. I don't think it's been askedon an application for him, but I know in retail applications ARE rejected if it's not included. It is used for a background check. I remember it being asked for way back in 1987 when I started working at a chain grocery store on the application and if I didn't include it, it wouldn't be considered.

Not sure why you would object to this.

Been working since age 16 and ALWAYS had to - provide SS#. It is standard everywhere.

Don't know where you people are from, but that is NOT the standard where I am from. A random application is not where you should be asked for your SS#, especially when it makes no reference to what it is used for i.e. background check etc...
I guess you guys can do what you want, but I will question it every time I'm asked for a SS# without cause. Hope ya all have identify theft protection.

I didn't say they were guilty of identify theft. I was implying that people who think it is no big deal to leave their ss # with a company who gives no reason for it i.e. background check..BEFORE you are even interviewed...better watch out for identify theft.

Nope, not into fresh meat but doubt MM has bad intent. On the other hand, one can give ss# to family or friend and have it end up in evil hands. You never know, but I guess I understand the point. MM needs to keep the SS# private and generally unavailable to employees of the firm, which brings up the topic of employee privacy. Not sure what the rules are on this, but I wonder if other info is private, such as employee stats, etc. Don't know.

So if they said provide your SS for a background check - then your fine with it

We all know Identiy theives NEVER lie,,,It would be so easy to track your ss back to MModal if they stole your identity and do you honestly think they would risk their entire company for your identity??

HR is high paid job,,,but your right ANY company you work for has the potential ANY OF Them..I used to run security and get security clearances for the government,,could have stolen any info I wanted,,would I no not for a million dollars...But if you apply to MModal and give your SS and all the sudden you ID is stolen they can track that paperwork from the second it comes into the office...This is not a little no nothing company, believe me they have it all covered...

If this makes you laugh...you are hard up for entertainment. As for the rest of you...I don't care enough about YOU to care what you think. Go ahead and throw your SS# numbers around and make fun of those of us who apparently HAVE something to lose and don't wish to put ourselves in harms way. Although you may be wise in your own eyes, you haven't been all the way around the world like you act, because you are so ignorant thinking your SS# is safe to put anywhere and everywhere. THAT my friend is the laugh of the DAY! Maybe you are just hard up for jobs and so you just give them whatever they ask. I'm NOT hard up for a job and I live by wisdom not consequence. Therefore, I will continue to be careful about who gets my SS#. It's a good thing the Internet was invented..otherwise some of you would never get to air your opinions...they wouldn't last in the real world...only the virtual.

I don't have a problem with an employer asking for my SS#....my problem (this is a recording) is that I'm asked for it without cause i.e. background check etc......... I've been asked for my SS on every application I have submitted since I was old enough to work. It's also to make sure you're not an illegal alien.

When I was being trained in HR in a small company, I was told to just skip apps without an SSN unless their application looked exceptional, and in that case, we would contact them for proof of citzenship, such as birth cert.

Why is MModal posting job openings, when so many of use are running out of work or worse falling into the pool--what with the pay cuts, VR being paid half even though it takes nearly as long to edit most reports, and the fact that I only get my "primary" accounts about 30% of the time and the rest of the time I am typing from the pool so that nearly every report that comes up is a new facility or dictator, I have gone from making $16 an hour to minimum wage. I see so many complaints about MModal. Does anyone actually like them? I'm in the hiring process and they are calling with an offer. I would like to try it out. I work in-house now, but eventually my position will be eliminated due to VR. I do not make that great of pay, and have lots of down time, but still have to sit in the office all day. Left MModal 18 mos. ago and have been on here encouraging everybody that there is life after MQ/MM. This week my wonderful clinic goes live with EMR. The trainer won't even recognize transcription. I am so sick of Mmodal. I resigned recently and I keep getting letters to return things that I have never ever owned or received or stuff that I had sent back to them years ago. The DEPOT apparently is as ignorant as the rest of them. SO glad I found real job that pays, respects and appreciates their employees. I have only one PC to return and they sent me five boxes and a bunch of labels and stating that I have in my possession 7 different things.... OMG.. what a joke!!! ...

can you specify exactly what laws they have broken? Yes, we are all unhappy here, but I cannot see that they have done anything they cannot do legally. The last judgment against them was for witholding pay. I think they are too smart to break laws again. What do you expect to gain anyway by suing a company that has filed bankruptcy, which is always a very smart business move to make if you can get away with it. ...

It took a stupid pill. It skips at least a fourth of the words, uses commas and back slashes like most people use salt and pepper of course skipping the words where it puts the commas in, puts in stuff that is not even close to what is dictated. These companies pay for their stuff to be run through this ridiculous program. Why are the bosses allowing this low quality to come through unless they own part of mmodal. Does not make sense. ...
