MQ has to SEVERELY cut employee-related costs and - cut/control salaries

Posted: Mar 22, 2010

There are severe legal ramifications if you put in writing that you agree to this cost cutting/salary control maneuvering by MQ. Essentially they are getting us to let them off the hook with these "ESSAYS."

Please note on the email it states: "All entries become the property of MQ and may be used in future communications."

Also, not to be outdone by their own salary slashing FTR program, they have also taken more time/money away from us as these are to be done on OUR OWN TIME per the email. It is bad enough they cut our pay, do not offer real bonuses, and give us pay raises that might buy a cup of rice at the food pantry if we save our pennies real good, but they have to add insult to injury.

Please, please, I cannot emphasize to you DO NOT SIGN YOUR NAME TO A SELF-AUTHORED AGREEMENT to their pay cut. Don't do it.

Please read this carefully. MQ/CBay is NOT DONE WITH THE DIRTY DEEDS YET. They have a bunch of employees to get rid of yet and you do not know how they are going to use these documents against you. An 'ESSAY CONTEST"? Come on, we are all adults here, we are all scraping by with the slams that our paychecks have taken. But yet they are going to come out with an ESSAY CONTEST so we MIGHT get a CHANCE of a few bucks AFTER TAXES ARE TAKEN OUT of the "WINNINGS." Oh please.

Why don't they come up with an HONEST BONUS PROGRAM instead of a bogus "CONTEST" that has us all basically writing our own walking papers. They will say to you, when you fight them for wrongful discharge, "but you even wrote down yourself that this is a GREAT program you AGREED to it!"

DON'T DO IT PEOPLE. DON'T. THIS IS AN INSULT TO OUR INTEGRITY AS HARD WORKING PROFESSIONALS AND AN UNDERHANDED TRICK.

I never in my life worked ANYWHERE where they used tactics like these. It is like throwing a handful of crumbs laced with rat poison at a flock of birds.

Don't do it. That is not a lot of money, especially after taxes. It is not worth putting yourself in a BAD POSITION with that self-authored agreement with YOUR NAME ATTACHED TO IT.

MQ is not done with us yet. CBay is filling seats quickly. MQ is hiring newbies like crazy, only because they already have salary controls in place that they are being hired into and they can manipulate the newbies easier than the long time employees who they are giving the shaft to.

DO NOT ENTER THIS "CONTEST." IT IS A RUSE. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ON THE UP AND UP WITH US EVER, AND THIS SO-CALLED CONTEST IS A DISGRACE AND A SHAM.

Don't let them use you.

Just my two cents worth, and if my new job opens up before the "contest" "end date" I am going to fire off a letter to the entire corporate board and tell their A***S off!

A flippin "contest." No real bonuses for all. A joke and a sham.

Shame on them.

I have to wonder if this fake "essay" thing is even legal. - Sounds like they have some REALLY shady lawyers.

Severely Frusterated New Grad
Sep 07, 2010

I have been a new grad since July 2010 and have been actively looking for employment since May 2010. Everytime I see a posting for a job that requires 2, 3, 6, 7 years experience, I just want to scream. If there is such a need for experienced MT's, then why don't some of these companies train a new MT??? Train a fresh brain, shape them to work for your company? I have several friends who were considering a career as a MT but have already advised them to never do it. I am starting to wo ...

Editing VR In BeyondTxt Has Made Me Severely Depressed.
May 02, 2010

I have never felt more worthless in my life. I work for about half the pay, it takes longer to do because the drafts are so awful. You get marked down if you don't use shortcut keys to navigate or whatever and the object is to keep you fingers on the keyboard, but you cannot keep them in the position you need to for transcribing or fixing all the problems. I find my right hand is always on the control+delete key or end key, and my fingers constantly on the period or ...

Costs For An IC License ?
Jun 04, 2012

Hello again, everyone. Thank you SM for giving me some information on ScribeRight. I am new at this type of position, and there is no guarantee they will call me or even want me, but if they do get in touch, does anyone here know how much an IC license will cost in Ohio and what the cost might be for a certificate for HIPAA ?? I searched several sites and I am not sure what I should be pricing. Thanks everyone. ...

Avoid DicTran At All Costs
Nov 03, 2009

DicTran had few reviews online so when we looked into purchasing their platform we could only rely on the deceptive sales presentation from their owner Bill. The company claimed to be able to satisfy all our needs but after we paid them communication became a major issue. Our MT's hate the platform since it forces them to use their custom software which has numerous errors. When we try to contact them for support they just might as well not exist. The worst part of the experience is we pay ...

In the E-mail it says they are trying to eliminate nonproduction costs. Well, I have a great idea in mind to reduce a lot of nonproduction costs, starting with some upper management and all of their worthless VP of this, VP of that. Really, MQ, you are driving yourself into the GROUND!!!! ...

No Wonder Medical Costs So Much Now Days
Sep 14, 2013

Self referred to a vascular physician last month. He saw me about 10 minutes, said he "did not have a clue" what my issue was. I have straight forward aching at night waking me from sleep pain in the legs plus very tired feelings, sometimes worse with ambulating during the day. As a lay person I could myself have a clue. Got bill the other day with my copay and his cost to my insurance was $325.00. I called office manager, explained the short time seen, also "not having a clue" thought the bill ...

Statutory Employee Vs. Traditional Employee Status Inquiry
Oct 10, 2013

I'm seeing more and more job postings for statutory employee status. I'm trying to figure out what an appropriate line rate request equivalent would be since I would be responsible for withholding income taxes. For example if the traditional employee line rate is 8 cpl for transcription what would I need to request for statutory status? The same or more? ...

Need Advice - Drug Costs/CVS 90-day Mail
Oct 31, 2014

Does anyone out there get their generic drugs via the 90-day CVS plan by mail? I'm doing a price check. I just noticed on this week's open enrollment "executive letter" regarding 2015 insurance that participation in CVS's 90-day mail order plan will be mandatory, unless we opt out. Currently, we're on the High Deductible plan and my husband is on 3 generic meds that we get at Walmart because they're on Walmart's $4 (or sometimes less) list. We ge ...

MOT Related To Bankruptcy?
May 12, 2015

It's been my experience that when there's a deluge of work all at once to be finished up, it's because the hospital/company is about to switch gears, with the MT suffering the most. I'm not financial savvy, but I wonder if this latest MOT stuff is related to the recent bankruptcy, that possibly the reserve money to pay the MTs is running out, so the company is about to go under or sell out. Something's up for sure. ...

Related Lines Of Work
Aug 27, 2013

I've been in healthcare documentation for over 7 years. The well is drying up, it seems that almost nobody is hiring, and the ones that are want the whole class to be as good as the valedictorian, if you know what I mean (and the medical industry as a whole seems bound and determined to destroy employee rights). Can my experience get me something in legal transcription or something else more stable? I can't afford more schooling, I got bills to pay. ...

purchased a book on eBay. The member not only accepted my pay and did not send, it she was very rude about it. I think I have done all I can do, but I want to make sure. She is leaving me negative feedback simply because I left it about her. That is not fair and I have reported her. Oh and to let you all know, it is a seller going by amg585. I asked them where my book was and got a very rude response so am asking for a refund, but the fact they are leaving me ...

Need To Vent (computer Chair Related)
Apr 27, 2011

My computer chair tore up, so I needed to get a new one. I tried some out at the store and got a cushy one. After I put it together and sat in it for 30 minutes, I had severe pain. It felt like my whole body went numb and tingly. So I had to take it back. I got a second chair and can tell it's not going to be comfortable and that I will need to take it back. I'm sick, tired, and frustrated about this. Not at the stores or the people that work there, because it's not their fault ( ...

What Is Your Work-related New Year's Resolution?
Dec 19, 2011

I mean this post in all ernest, I am genuinely interested in hearing about those things that you might do differently next year to make things better than this year. I'll go first. 1. I plan to stay more focused on my work instead of checking in here, so much. I plan to accomplish this by removing my MTStars icon from my toolbar, thus removing my temptation to click on it and navigate here so many times during the day. I sat down the other day and analyzed how ...

Suggestion To Aid With Income-related Discussions.
Aug 10, 2012

I've noticed that we need some sort of standard reference or metric to use when we talk about income-related issues, and this metric should not merely reference dollars (or cents), but should relate this to a unit of time. At the end of the day, it's how much you earned per unit of time that really matters, and this the only sort of metric that takes into account all of the variables that a mere monetary reference such as "line rate" does not. The line rate pa ...

Tax Debt Related To Independenct Contractor Status
Jan 02, 2014

I wonder if anyone else has gotten her/himself into a predicament like mine. Instead of paying estimated quarterly taxes, I've been trying to pay a lump sum when tax time comes on Apr. 15 each year. It's a bad situation because I never have the amount that's due to pay. I've been on an monthly installment plan for 3 years, and I never miss a payment or pay late. At this point, I still owe for most of 2011 and all of 2012. I also have a full time ...
