Medical costs to raise 8.5% in 2012 - OhioMT
Posted: May 20, 2011
Wonder how much more our wages will drop as medical costs continue to skyrocket out of control.
That probably means our pay will drop another 15-20%, - above & beyond what it went down this year.

After all, they'll have another nifty "excuse". By 2012, though, lots of us MTs may have already left the field. Sure hope they trained the dot-heads well, they're gonna need 'em.
Self referred to a vascular physician last month. He saw me about 10 minutes, said he "did not have a clue" what my issue was. I have straight forward aching at night waking me from sleep pain in the legs plus very tired feelings, sometimes worse with ambulating during the day. As a lay person I could myself have a clue. Got bill the other day with my copay and his cost to my insurance was $325.00. I called office manager, explained the short time seen, also "not having a clue" thought the bill ...
It's time for the medical transcription community to come together to insist on better pay. As the fast-food industry employees have joined together in protest for better pay, it is now the medical transcriptionist time to do the same.
It time for the medical transcriptionists in America to unite and stand together as one, just as other underpaid employees of other companies are doing, such as McDonald's and Wal Mart.
If our services are so valuable, then we deserve better pay. ...
Hello again, everyone.
Thank you SM for giving me some information on ScribeRight. I am new at this type of position, and there is no guarantee they will call me or even want me, but if they do get in touch, does anyone here know how much an IC license will cost in Ohio and what the cost might be for a certificate for HIPAA ?? I searched several sites and I am not sure what I should be pricing. Thanks everyone. ...
DicTran had few reviews online so when we looked into purchasing their platform we could only rely on the deceptive sales presentation from their owner Bill. The company claimed to be able to satisfy all our needs but after we paid them communication became a major issue. Our MT's hate the platform since it forces them to use their custom software which has numerous errors. When we try to contact them for support they just might as well not exist. The worst part of the experience is we pay ...
In the E-mail it says they are trying to eliminate nonproduction costs. Well, I have a great idea in mind to reduce a lot of nonproduction costs, starting with some upper management and all of their worthless VP of this, VP of that. Really, MQ, you are driving yourself into the GROUND!!!! ...
Can someone explain to me what insurance plan Focus has and the cost for single and family? How is the insurance? Are there deductibles to meet first? Thanks in advance. ...
There are severe legal ramifications if you put in writing that you agree to this cost cutting/salary control maneuvering by MQ. Essentially they are getting us to let them off the hook with these "ESSAYS."
Please note on the email it states: "All entries become the property of MQ and may be used in future communications."
Also, not to be outdone by their own salary slashing FTR program, they have also taken more time/money away from us as these are to be done on OUR O ...
if they change your schedule to something you don't like don't work it. WOrk what you want. Then if they fire you you can't be forced to pay it back. ...
Does anyone out there get their generic drugs via the 90-day CVS plan by mail? I'm doing a price check. I just noticed on this week's open enrollment "executive letter" regarding 2015 insurance that participation in CVS's 90-day mail order plan will be mandatory, unless we opt out.
Currently, we're on the High Deductible plan and my husband is on 3 generic meds that we get at Walmart because they're on Walmart's $4 (or sometimes less) list. We ge ...
Can anybody cheer me up. This is so disgusting I have just decided to take early Social Security retirement because my pay is soooo low, and the limit for 2013 to earn is $15,320. So I guess these disgusting pay rates are good for one thing. ...
if you were me, a 34-year-old single mother, would you go back to school to finish your LPN degree (one year left) or finish your HIT degree (one year left also) and become an RHIT? Or maybe do both? ...

Maybe if MModal hired fewer employees from Microsoft they could afford to pay transcriptionist better and allow for cost of living raises. I have been a transcriptionist for going on 30 years and this company is one of the reasons we can't make a living wage. I am so tired of hearing the term "industry standard" because in the past when I worked with other companies and directly in-house I was paid more. Just because it is the "industry standard" does not make it right. &n ...
I have a friend who has his own small business and was the victim of identity theft. He now has to refile for the years of 2005-2012 and really cannot afford to pay a CPA for all those years and needs to purchase (at a great deal) TurboTax, TaxAct, or similar good quality software that is for home and business (with state preferred, but not 100% necessary). I know he was looking online to find these, but I figured I'd ask here for him since a lot of US are self-employed and migh ...
Doesn't sound very good there either. OMG are there any companies out there who respect their employees and pay a decent salary with no VR ?????????????? ...
I will be finished with school at the end of this month. Does anyone hire recent grads? How can I get into the field if everyone wants to hire only those with experience? I could use some help on this. Please let me know if anyone has any advice.

See below for what Nuance did for 4th Quarter 2012. - it is very involved - but - at the top of page two they state they expect revenue from Healthcare to be 1 BILLION in 2013 - Then on page 3 in the Question/Answer section Paul Ricci Chief Exe Officer states:
" It has been and continues to be our strategy to diminish the amount of labor contribution even as we have acquired some firms with large labor populations. Our goal over time is to get greater leverage out of that labor contr ...

Hi everyone,

I am a member of AAPC and just received and reviewed AAPC's 2012 Salary Survey Results. You must be a member to read the survey. Because of the alarming wage decline as a medical transcriptionist, I decided to become certified as a coder and AAPC certification can be achieved sooner than AHIMA certification. I took AAPC's online course in February, achieved the CPC-H certification in September and have an apprentice designation. I am now searching for employment.
