M-Modal cheating everyone? - wedeservemore

Posted: Jul 09, 2012

Hmmm, things are getting stranger every day.  First I increase my "inactive time" from 40% to consistently 9-10% for several weeks now.  However, there has been NO CHANGE IN MY PAY whatsoever.  How can that possibly be?  I e-mailed my CCM and received no response at all, not even recognition that she received my e-mail.  Now I read the following in our local paper.  Is M-Modal cheating EVERYONE?

BOSTON, July 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Block & Leviton LLP, a Boston-based law firm representing investors nationwide, is investigating possible breaches of fiduciary duties by the Board of Directors of M*Modal Inc concerning its announced merger with One Equity Partners V, L.P. the private investment arm of JP Morgan Chase & Co.

Block & Leviton's investigation seeks to determine, among other things, whether M*Modal's Directors breached their fiduciary duties by failing to maximize shareholder value in the proposed merger with One Equity Partners . . . Block & Leviton's investigation seeks to determine, among other things, whether M*Modal's Directors breached their fiduciary duties by failing to maximize shareholder value in the proposed merger with One Equity Partners.  For example, the average target price by analysts for M*Modal common stock is $16.00 per share. Moreover, the Company's common stock is up nearly 30% this year as it notched record revenue and saw profits rise in the first quarter of 2012.

that has to do with stocks...not your "inactive time" or pay - anon

apparently they did not disclose the maxmimal value of stocks to shareholders. That has nothing to do with you.

The fiduciary duties the article is talking about refers to stock holders. As far as inactive time.. - dnr

It's like a carrot on a stick as far as 'increase' in production IMO. The less 'inactive time' you have the bigger than LPH they predict you should be achieving. They don't get that percentage inactive time does not necessarily reflect what you are capable of producing. Some people actually do more production with more active time as they type in very fast bursts and get more done than those of us who just plod along at a consistent but slower speed.

I got an email from the mentor showing that my inactive time had gone up substantially. Geez, maybe it was up because I was being bounced around accounts and spending a lot of time looking up client profiles, some of which take a lot of time just to figure out. After this email, which I did respond to justifying my inactive time, I guess I am going to have to join those who are 'playing the inactive time game' and put that can of beans on my foot pedal while I check client profiles, check other reports in DQM, Google search, recheck drugs, etc. I may not be the fastest turtle on the block, but I do my work to my high standard. Can't seem to shake off those high standards instilled in me when I began transcription some 20+ years ago when a well written and accurate transcript meant something and was prized and appreciated.

Hmm... - MT

Most of the time I spend inactive is quality time looking up spellings, checking dosages and spellings of medications. I think that is important.

wedeservemore, I think I see your point... - (see message)

I think the OP might be thinking that the fiduciary duties article raises a red flag that M*Modal might be a company not to be trusted, not that she necessarily thinks it has anything to do with her inactive time.

If a company would cheat at one thing, what would stop them from cheating in another area of their business?

Naturally, a lawsuit alone does not mean a company is guilty....but I can certainly understand the shadow of doubt in your mind, especially when you've done as they suggested (reduced your inactive time) and haven't seen one iota of difference in your pay.

It seems like mergers of this sort always undergo this type of lawsuit and usually end up merging li - nm

Inactive time decrease does not automatically increase your pay..... - Wishthosereportswouldgoway

[ In Reply To ..]
A decrease in your inactive time, as per the report, does not equal an increase in pay, unless you are doing more lines, which is the theory of course behind decreasing your inactive time. Those reports have nothing to do, per se, with an increase in pay. Your line count is the only measure of an increase in pay. If you have a decrease in inactive time, you should see an increase in lines, but that is not necessarily so. You may have harder reports that take longer, or may be typing slower even though you have more active time. Those reports are merely a guide to help you see where you might finesse your skills to be more productive. If you want more pay, increase your line count, that is the bottom line.

Isnt M*Modal just a new name for Medquist? - mttx

MQ settled a class action a few years ago for cheating their MTs. We got shorted on our line counts for several years, and in exchange for that we got a year's dues in AHDI. Wow!

A Crackdown On Cheating Companies
Apr 10, 2010

I just bought the early addition of the Sunday paper, and interestingly enough, there is an article with the above-mentioned title on page 16 by Rebecca Webber.  It talks about the high percentage of jobs being created for contractors and consultants.  Unfortunately, many of these companies are misclassifying the workers as contractors when they are in fact being treated as full-time employees.  Sound familiar, ICs?  Obama has allocated 25 million to the Dept. of Labor to co ...

Is Nuance And M-Modal Joint Services? Posting Here For Nuance AC, Got Email To Test For M-Modal.
May 01, 2012

I thought they were 2 different services.  Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows.  All the small companies have been merged I guess.  I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR.  Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...

M*Modal VR
Sep 25, 2010

I have another question.  When one does a draft in VR, does MT get paid for all lines in the draft or would an MT get paid if it has to be edited.  I will be trying to learn this in the next few weeks and I am scared to death I will not catch on and then I might be without a job.   I have a feeling I might not get paid for the whole draft report.  Then again it may depend on the company.  Any opinions please.   Thanks  ...

M-Modal Feedback
Dec 16, 2009

Would appreciate feedback from anyone using M-Modal, especially Webmedx Enterprise MTs. Dreading the conversion and wondering if my fears are well founded. I'm pretty fast straight typing but rarely get more than 50 lines more an hour with current VR. Seems all it takes is just one lousy report to negate the lines made on the decent reports. Afraid it's just going to be worse with M-Modal and the whole drop-down heading thing. Anyone have any encouragement to offer? ...

M-modal Being Horrible
Jun 07, 2010

I know there are a lot of comments on here about M-modal being horrible and I have to definitely agreed, it is the only VR I have used so nothing to really compare it to but cannot do many more lines per hour than I transcribe (usually about 275 lph or so), anyone willing to share how much they do on M-modal and how long the account has been on VR?  Just my curiosity since I don't seem to make any progress in increasing my lines per hour.  Thanks in advance. ...
