New job at M*Modal - unsure

I stopped doing medical transcription for a while and I am considering getting back into it. I live in Green Bay, and no one is hiring in house. I am considering taking a test with M*Modal. Can anyone tell me anything about this company? Good, bad, and ugly.

You'll be hired in at 8/4, and it'll be mostly 4. If you are able to do 250 SR lines per hour, well, you do the math. Some aren't able to do that even because they are always running out of work.

Dont do it--not worth it. I am only averaging about 10 hours per week and have to collect partial UE since October. No work available. CK out Ministry--does MT at home work--I am waiting to hear from them too.

How do you get partial UE? Do you have to work full time?

P.S. I'm from Stoughton (we just usually say Madison!)

You do not have to work full time in Wisconsin to get unemployment. Part time qualifies as well.

Hi Stoughton...Wisc Rapids here....just call UE and explain that hours have been slow due to jobs going to India...I am part time...so if MModal only has 10hr/wk for me..UE will pay the difference. Good luck Stoughton!

I haven't had enough work for an entire shift, and it is getting worse and worse. Add to that, MM voice recognition is horrible, and 98% of the work is VR. According to production statistics that are sent out once a week, the average lph works out to minimum wage.

Wow. M*Modal has at least 20 positions posted all over the internet. I think I might go back to being a CNA. At least then I know how much I make an hour and don't run out of work. I left to go to nursing school which I still am doing but wanted to supplement my income. Now I remember why I got out off the MT world.Thanks for the comments.

and they think I'm a good candidate, but all the negative posts about them are scaring me. Can I expect to be a slave laborer for them or what?

BTW, whenever I receive emails from M*Modal, the English is really terrible. It's like they're hiring ESL people to do all the work or something.

I have another question. When one does a draft in VR, does MT get paid for all lines in the draft or would an MT get paid if it has to be edited. I will be trying to learn this in the next few weeks and I am scared to death I will not catch on and then I might be without a job. I have a feeling I might not get paid for the whole draft report. Our hospital is supposed to make the decision tomorrow if they are going to keep our work in-house or outsource to M*Modal. I want to make an informed decision when and if we are told we are going with M*Modal. Do you get holidays? How is the pay? Flexible schedule? What about our vacations that are already scheduled? I am thinking about testing for acute care transcription with M*Modal. But, when I went to their web site I see they are owned by someone in India? Is that for real? Our company recently outsourced us and we are being offered jobs w M-Modal. I have seen all of the negative comments but I was wondering how bad the pay is. I typed about 220 lines/hour doing straight typing and they are saying their average for voice rec is 220/lines per hour. If that were the case you'd be making nothing! Can anyone give me any input? Would appreciate feedback from anyone using M-Modal, especially Webmedx Enterprise MTs. Dreading the conversion and wondering if my fears are well founded. I'm pretty fast straight typing but rarely get more than 50 lines more an hour with current VR. Seems all it takes is just one lousy report to negate the lines made on the decent reports. Afraid it's just going to be worse with M-Modal and the whole drop-down heading thing. Anyone have any encouragement to offer? ...

I know there are a lot of comments on here about M-modal being horrible and I have to definitely agreed, it is the only VR I have used so nothing to really compare it to but cannot do many more lines per hour than I transcribe (usually about 275 lph or so), anyone willing to share how much they do on M-modal and how long the account has been on VR? Just my curiosity since I don't seem to make any progress in increasing my lines per hour. Thanks in advance. ...

Does anyone know how an MT is compensated when they begin using M*Modal and basically editing? If paid by the line, if M*Modal creates a report consiisting of 75 lines, and you edit a few lines here and there, are you paid for the entire report (the full 75 lines) or just paid for what lines you edit? ...

I took the Tier 3 test and passed. I don't know what my actual score was, but I have a phone interview later this week, and I was wanting to get an idea of what to expect as far as working at M*Modal. I know they used to be MQ and I know there are many, MANY disgruntled current and former employees.
