M-Modal feedback - Skeptiwebber

Would appreciate feedback from anyone using M-Modal, especially Webmedx Enterprise MTs. Dreading the conversion and wondering if my fears are well founded. I'm pretty fast straight typing but rarely get more than 50 lines more an hour with current VR. Seems all it takes is just one lousy report to negate the lines made on the decent reports. Afraid it's just going to be worse with M-Modal and the whole drop-down heading thing. Anyone have any encouragement to offer?

I'm not a Webmedx MT, but I have used M-Modal before with a different company and I really can't think of anything good or encouraging to say about it.

My company paid 60% for VR editing, but there was no way to get 40% more lines per hour with M-Modal to make up for the 40% cut in pay. Overall, M-Modal was not very accurate and the reports all required very intensive editing.

I was told that M-Modal would get better as it "learned" the dictators. The only problem was that M-Modal had been doing these same dictators for over 2 years, and it never seemed to "learn" anything at all. It never got better and would keep making the same mistakes over and over, week after week, and month after month.

So basically, at least for me, M-Modal was a nightmare of a system to work on and an experience which I hope to never ever repeat again.

Thanks for that. Sigh. Currently Webmedx uses Nuance on the Enterprise side of things, and it's a disaster since last week. No commas, stays in cap mode after the allergy section so what follows is useless. I'm very discouraged. This used to be a wonderful place to work, and I gave them my best (still do, but it wears on you after a while). I'm definitely looking elsewhere.

I have used M-Modal for about a year now for VR/SR and I am very disappointed with the results. Sometimes it adds words and other times leaves out whole phrases, even when the dictation is at a constant volume and the physician is speaking clearly. I have noticed that the quality of the recognition has actually DECREASED over time, not increased. Per the company I work for, they are aware of the problem but have not adjusted pay accordingly. The program also seems to have trouble with particles like a and the, often leaving them out or adding the wrong word in its place. Yeah, those are just small words but they are used so frequently that correcting those small mistakes on a report is tedious and time consuming.

Especially bad having to go back and forth on new and old platforms. This is the most ridiculous crap I've ever had to put up with, but I won't take this too long. I'm ex-Medquist. I won't eat sh&t for anyone anymore.

...am having the same problems. I am down almost 200 dollars a paycheck, and the switching back and forth is in my opinion a large part of it, especially because the 2 platforms are very different I make mistakes more than I have ever made because for the amount I am paid (or should I say "not paid" anymore) the demand for quality would almost be laughable, if the constant threat of losing my livelihood wasn't constantly looming heavily down my neck. Only a few years ago you could just move on to another company...not so anymore. talk about a dead-end job just to keep some lousy benefits to begin with.

I am at Webmedx and have been using it for over a year. I am totally disgusted with it. Like another poster said, it learns to a point and then stops. I have been making the same corrections over and over and over and over! So sick of it. And lately it seems to have gotten even worse. Putting in totally incorrect words when the dictator is speaking very clearly. I wish Webmedx would wake up and realize what a lousy platform this is. And the fact that we now have to do twice as much work for half the money has my morale at an all time low.

are you able to do enough lines with the VR program to make do? What is the difference between your check before and now, more or less?

...at least from my experience with the type of account and some manipulation of the work I get.

in my opinion, it is yet another tool to lower industry standards in pay/compensation, as was outsourcing overseas.

switching back and forth is between regular and mmodal, and for some reason the functions and processing are very different in both which makes one more vulnerable for mistakes because 1 program does something 1 way, the other another... Really have to stay on your toes, which is a good thing; however, it all slows you down defeating the purpose.

The only money being made is by the companies from the savings of reducing what MTs make. It seems a no-win for the MT. The pay gets lower and lower. Maybe for some MTs who have the 'gravy' accounts and dictators, it will be very good but for a regular/average MT - not so much.

I work for a place that continues to have more and more ESLs as I am sure most places have now but they are perfectly horrible to try and understand. They are all on VR, no exceptions but to say you have to have a 'gravy' account and dictators just does not fly in my case. I make as much as when I worked at hospital location and that was with production and base pay. My pay has not suffered and in house no VR and made in the 40 thousand for the last several years, same with mostly all VR now.

your pay has not suffered that is great for you. I happen to know the account I work on and there are 'gravy' dictators and doctors who use "normals" and I do not get those jobs, ever. When I first started I did touch on all dictators but never ever do I get any easy dictations, and, respectfully disagreeing, my paycheck has gone down substantially, especially using mmodal which is what the post was about.

40,000, that is not the average MT. Clearly you must know that.

It probably cost too much money to switch over to Mmodal for it to be dumped now. sm - anon

What it will cost them is some very good MTs. I cannot and will not live with this very long. If my production hasn't improved remarkably over the next 2 weeks, I will be gone. I have no doubt there will be an exodus of MTs very, very soon.

...and I concur, it stinks. I have to make way too many corrections to actually make any money at this. I've been doing it for almost a year now and have seen my pay go down between 300-400 DOLLARS PER PAY PERIOD. I am not happy but what are we gonna do? If you want to work it is what it is...

I got feedback on a report today, CRITICAL FEEDBACK. The doctor dictating was absolutely horrible, worse than horrible. I could not understand him, tried my hardest and before I uploaded it sent a note to QA asking for a sample of his work, explained that I could NOT UNDERSTAND HIM. I'm so happy! I got my audit, passed with flying colors and got an email from sup saying good work and keep it up! He also suggested that I submit for a raise since I've been consistent. I said I didn't know that we could, but apparently we can if we maintain that 98% average consistently for a certain amount of time. I started with MModal a month or so ago and I am noticing that MME feedback is not consistent. One will cross out dictation in the document that another will leave (like service or surgeon or primary doc). Also, "myself/himself/herself" should not be changed? Have a hospital where you are to phonetically spell name if not given (it wasn't except to call him "Steven") QA so kindly sent me QA feedback and the only thing on there was that apparently Steven was actually spelled "Stephun." I just started working 3 days ago and have been doing very well with QA (100%) until yesterday. It seems now I am getting more scores in the high 90s, but I really feel that some of them are error of the QA. I got dinged for this: Blood sugars were in the 150-250 range. Most of them, though, were around 200. QA took out the commas around "though." Would you do that??? I figure "though" is nonessential and is extra info, hence the comma.
