My daughter will be driving and I can leave transcription/editing ! I just hope there is enough work to last that year. I love working at home. I've worked with some mean office women before who are backstabbing and downright evil, but at least I had security in my paycheck and paying my bills. This job has been great as far as being home with my daughter when she gets out of school and being home when she is sick, but now she is older and when she starts driving I'm getting out of this black hole of a job!

This waiting on work, no work, need to make your hours to keep full-time status, working on your days off to make up work, needing two jobs to make ends meet "JOB" is not worth it anymore. It's too stressful. I'm a single mom and I need security. Who else is hanging on by a thread?

We all need security but unfortunately the job market is anything but. It's just not MT, it's pretty much the gamut of jobs. Could have never done MT with kids in the house, too much distraction. Many people work 2 and 3 jobs these days to make ends meet, not unusual. Pay has dropped across the boards through all sectors of employment, not condoning it, just stating a fact. Some go back to school thinking that will help, many times it does not. Make sure your daughter gets employable skills. Best of luck to you in getting out of MT and into something better.

"Pay has dropped across the board through all sectors" Seems just as well. It brings us a little closer to other countries' rate of pay. How can we be competitive globally when we require pay that is so much higher than what others make.

I have an LVN license. I was making more as a transcription that I was an LVN in this town, but lately that is not the case. At the rate things are going with MT jobs, I could probably do better with a minimum wage job at a local retail store.

Production work is great if you actually have things to produce. No jobs in this business equals no pay.

I have several other options too. I may get out of the medical field entirely, but always keep my nursing license just in case.

I am checking out my community college catalogue and getting excited at so many interesting courses. I'm not looking for a long, drawn out process or degree, just some subjects that will be fun, creative and could also translate into making me more marketable. As an MT, I lean more toward writing, computer, and maybe even something medical, as opposed to something like car mechanics or accounting. Any ideas? ...

Just now got notification (New Years Eve) that there will be a new service area South right after the first of the year (figures, right?) I know this happened to the North region about a month ago. Ive never not given a notice, but I interviewed today and might get the job. You all know the deal, I just can't afford to work here and they want to fill the position Im trying for immediately. Do you think after only 6 months, I have to give them a notice? If so, how much of one? It feels so wrong to just up and quit, but I can't pay my bills!
