been here half a year - do I need to give notice?

Ive never not given a notice, but I interviewed today and might get the job. You all know the deal, I just can't afford to work here and they want to fill the position Im trying for immediately. Do you think after only 6 months, I have to give them a notice? If so, how much of one? It feels so wrong to just up and quit, but I can't pay my bills! Another 2 weeks, or even one just puts me further in the whole. I made more on unemployment!

I would do what is best for you. If the shoe were on the other foot, they wouldn't worry about giving you notice.

If you are ever going to use them as a referrence or if you ever want to go back, then yes give notice.

If the answer to both of the above is no, then I wouldn't worry about it.

I meant if you are going to put them on your resume.

They can say whether they will rehire you or not.

Don't tell me they don't because it's "illegal." I know they do because I got burned just this way one time.

I have worked at MQ since the end of February...last week I gave my notice (happiest day of my life) I emailed my CCM and explained why I was giving my notice and I said I would be done on 8/17. She emailed me back saying she was sorry to see me go and would get back to me on the paperwork, etc. for my resignation. On 8/15 I just couldn't take it anymore, couldn't finish out to the 17th and emailed her on the 16th and told her I felt like I was going to school not working and was so stressed out I couldn't even look at my computer and that I would not be finishing out my time. She emailed me back on my personal email and said that she would make my end date the 15th and I would get my PTO that I have accrued and she sent me the information about sending the computer back.

Congrats! I have NEVER had issues with my CCM, in fact I really like her and that's the only reason why I even care. Tonight my usual account which went ASR around the same time I started working on it, was so hard. Dictators I haven't heard before and they are all ESL. My paycheck almost always has a make-up payment to get me to minimum wage :O( This is just too frustrating! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Why is it that MTs (especially the ones who are starting out) have the opportunity to transcribe dictated reports from doctors that sound half dead, like they are using their last breath to dictate a report? It's amazing to me when QA tells me that they can make out everything these doctors say. What do the more seasoned MTs think about this? ...

Yeah, it came in like: "Within the belfry San Francisco heated the tripod and pumpkin blazed with endometriosis...." The WHOLE report didn't have three words consecutively that made the least bit of sense or had anything to do with what was dictated. "Fix" it? You gotta be kidding. Wipe it out and transcribe as dictated, you mean. Oh, and here's your half line rate, thanks! You SR transcription companies MAKE ME SICK. ...
