A few days ago I emailed my CCM to tell here that my brother had died and I had to take some time off. Her reply was that bereavement was only paid to full-time employees and to remind me of how many days of unpaid time off I could take each year.

A company that cuts MT compensation and drives jobs overseas while handsomely rewarding management is behaving exactly as one would expect.

[ In Reply To ..]I wasn't asking for extra compensation and someone who does not work for this company might think they could say something like "Sorry, take a little extra time." After all it is UNPAID time off and not costing them anything yet I am supposed to be worried about their turnaround time. Actually, I should have known. I had a friend who used to work for them who was asked to stop by and work a few hours on the way to her son's funeral.

I think, however, you can ask for a leave of absence. When I did that, they told me I had to use all PTO days first, and then could take 2 weeks of leave of absence, but that they would not hold my accounts or region.
Not sure if that would help or not, but I guess it is something if needed.

I don't need a leave because I am only very part-time and can manage but just trying to tell everyone, in case they did not know it already, that they can expect zilch from MQ in regard to either compensation or compassion. It never ceases to amaze me how they can expect you to care about them, jump through hoops when they are out of TAT and then basically throw you under the bus when you need something.

[ In Reply To ..]I am so sorry for the loss of your brother. Before Spheris was sold out to Q, I lost my mom....(back in 2006.) I still remember being up all night (she passed at her house), finally making it home, and logging on to Email my supervisor. She was AWESOME. In fact, when I left the Q her reply Email was one of the Emails I forwarded to my personal account to save. Sorry the Q doesn't have supervisors like that. I was fortunate enough to have a great CCM till the day I left (she came with our team from Spheris.) I do miss her... but she was gracious enough to understand that after the pay cuts, and then my account going to EPIC, that I had to accept the offer made by a local company in a totally different field. I pray you find peace, and a new job, if that is what you want. Blessings!

It is not right that your CCM would not let you take time off. There are more important things than MQ.
I went through the loss of my husband in 2006 when I was working for Spheris. My CCM was wonderful. She had no problem letting me take time off during his last days and let me take time a couple weeks beyond even. So I do not get why your CCM will not let you take time to take care of yourself and your family.

Today I've been getting probably half the ILP reports to QA with "full proof" or something similar in the QA note on reports that aren't flagged for 100%. When you transcribe a doctor's name in the body of the report, do you always need to transcribe the doctor's full name and title, even if not dictated as such - for example, would you need to transcribe "Adam Adams, MD" even if just dictated as "Dr. Adams," and look up the full name and title? It seems to me that full-time IC is a contradiction. I mean, in order to really be an IC, per IRS, don't they indicate that you should have more than one client? So, if one client requires full-time, that means you have to work more than full-time in order to keep everyone happy?
