E-mail, e-mail, and more e-mail - sm

Do people in this company justify their jobs by the number of e-mail exchanges? I am not in a POD so I posted this separately.
The number of e-mails has reached an all-time high. This is crazy! These come as sales promotions, production histories, motivational e-mails, award winners, account histories, spec changes, new dictators, and on and on. If you work on different accounts/platforms, you also receive numerous e-mails from managers and production coaches on each.
Now, we as HDS are "required" to engage in these e-mail exchanges. If you are on a clinic account and an OP note downloads because it was coded by the doctor wrong, you have to send an e-mail so it can be removed. If you have a stat dictation, which are numerous all day long, you have to e-mail the whole team with the job number. If you have a dictation out of TAT, you have to e-mail the team, or even if the dictation is within an hour of TAT, you have to e-mail the team. Aren't there some management people who are paid to do this? Isn't that their job? Why are they making it ours?
Did someone overlook the fact that WE GET PAID ON PRODUCTION???? This is becoming more and more time consuming and overwhelming. Is there some way we can complain about this, and point out that we are being distracted from what is OUR real job?

I have 30 accounts and it's a big enough pain in the butt to read each profile for each report that comes through. I certainly am not going to also seach through my emails for every client to see if there are any changes to the CP which aren't in the CP (and which may never make it to the CP). Simply explain to your customer that a change is being made to the CP and as soon as it's been placed in the CP we will effect the change.
I would rather justify an error in a report by saying "I didn't do that because it isn't in the CP" (which would result in a reversal) than say "According to your email dated 3 months ago that change was supposed to be made to the CP...but since it's not in there still then I guess I wasted my time searching for that email which QA obviously never got or didn't waste their time looking for, implimenting it into the document, and now I have an error that's going to be on my monthly audit."

I check my email at the beginning of my shift and then again at the end of my shift (unless I'm waiting for a response to an email I've sent).

I do not receive abundant e-mails, in fact the only thing I get during the day is our backlog account about 4 times a day and maybe a few e-mails from my QC once in awhile with account specifics or reviews. Have no idea what you are talking about having to e-mail if a stat, different job, etc. Are we all different???
Yes, we are all on platforms that perform differently. Many accts not PODS either - there diff requirements. NM

[ In Reply To ..]This has become outrageous. Even the necessary e-mails regarding client specifications has become ridiculous. Managers and coaches are sending out e-mails regarding accounts, corrections to those e-mails, and then clarification to those e-mails. People, think it through before sending out numerous e-mails. Our time is money, every second.
When I log on or off and have a dozen or more e-mails, is someone going to pay me to wade through what is important and what is not? Does someone pay us to e-mail regarding stat reports or reports out of TAT? It appears more and more often that QA, management, and coaches are recruiting our UNPAID help in order to make their own jobs easier. You need to reverse this practice and put a stop to it immediately, as it is getting worse day by day. Our e-mails go unanswered for days, and usually require a second. I wonder what the consequences are if we ignore all of this and the requirement that we engage in this exchange of e-mails.
MM, are you losing sight of what exactly it is you pay us to do? It is little enough as it is.

[ In Reply To ..]I agree completely. Today, it has been one email after another. And those charts that they insist on sending with all the colors, all the lines, take forever to open up and delete. Now we have another new "team" individual email regarding our production, how much time we wasted, etc. If I want to waste my time, please just let me because I am the one it is affecting and not them. Goodness. I doubt any one of us wastes much time at any rate. But these emails are just terrible.

Now that we have 4 supervisors, and I use that term lightly, we have even more emails, and some emails that were sent out that we were not supposed to have gotten that had all the team names/email addresses on them, and those who called in sick or who were late, etc. We get emails for awards, for bad reports (not any for excellent reports), we get emails for not meeting production lines, on and on and on ad nauseam. I agree completely with what you are saying here. It has become ridiculous and we are on production!!!

Not that I really WANT to hear from the Q, but am I the only one who does not have e-mail still? I can log into MQ Central fine, click the "my community" button, and the regular e-mail page does come up but with only four boxes at the top (no e-mail list). Doubt he will even read it but if he does, it was nice knowing all of you. I did not use any bad language, but I did speak my mind. from a supervisor with a typo or a word spelled incorrectly or misuse of a word. I want so much to send a reply stating "Failed audit!" And where does the doctor's responsibility come in? I can't believe how poor some of their grammar is and how they mix up genders throughout the report. It's unbelievable how much we have to correct to make them look good. Just received e-mail from corporate stating that as they had previously stated they would be rearranging management, ccm's, etc. It went on to state that if you had been reassigned to a new CCM they would be contacting you in the future, but Thank GOD at the bottom it lists who your CCM will be and I am lucky enough to have the same CCM who I love and has always been good to me.
