Does M*Modal provide computers? - just wondering.

Of course, though, they provide the cheapest computers they can find. I have had computers from them that were so slow that it sucked down my production.

I am surprised/horrified by the number of employers stating what equipment they require from the employee (who is not IC). Sorta reminds me of share croppers.

You can use your own computer for MM work, but if it goes down and you can't work while you get it fixed, you're SOL as far as pay. If you use the company computer and it goes down, you can get paid until you receive the replacement (which is usually sent overnight).

All the ads I have seen have hardware and software requirements, meaning that if you still have company equipment you will be able to get it replaced, but if you are new they are not providing equipment any longer. There have been multiple posts about MTs with company computers. Either the company does not send labels or they do not want it back. Easier and cheaper to make the MT provide their own equipment so they do not have to provide support nor technical downtime.

They supply the foot pedal and headset now. - nm

use a USB headset? I really like the Logitech headset provided by MM but I have had a problem recently with the plug-in area. It seems that the plug sometimes slips a little and I don't have a good connection. The sound will be coming in only one ear. I have to push on it, twist it a little in order to get my full connection back. This problem happened all of a sudden. Not sure what to do about it except get a headset with a USB connection. If anyone has had this problem, would appreciate advice. TIA.

Hi all, I purchased a new computer over Christmas with a very large screen due to having poor eyesight. Everything seems fine until I get into ChartScript, where everything is so very, very small. It is worse than with my smaller screen. I have to literally stand up and put my nose to the screen to make sure I have correct patient info in the demographics, etc. Any suggestions? Is there something on the screen itself I can adjust, or do you think it is within ChartS ...

I know all the techies out there will say I must "get with the times", but I absolutely hate computers! Everyone acts like it's all something new not to be provided a computer. As a former recruiter, let me tell you that 98% of equipment sent out was not returned and this very expensive for any company. It's not Nuance's fault XP will no longer be protected.
