Congrats to MModal for Letting Us Know - We Get Penalized for Looking Things Up

Thank you, MModal! I always knew we didn't specifically get paid for looking things up (part of the job), but what I didn't know was that it was affecting our line counts for trying to look things up. Yeah! Something actually honest for a change. LOL.

Yes! Isn't that the icing on the cake! If we look it up we are penalized. If we don't look it up we are penalized. Seems a bit strange doesn't it.

It is that old saw we always dealt with and has gotten worse. Don't put blanks. Oh but you can put blanks, but we'll penalize you for too many blanks. So don't put blanks. Look up something, but only spend 5-10 minutes then move on. Okay but I had to leave a blank. Don't leave blanks. Research. THEN PAY ME DARN IT. I cannot bake a cake w/o having all the ingredients. If you and your clients want a document that we can all be proud of, then back off and let me do the job right. They didn't have all this concern 15 years ago. MTs did their jobs and got paid fairly and nothing was wrong with that. Then these suits got in and screwed it all up. Always pushing quantity over quality, always. Wonder why VR never gets fixed???? Might it be because they know it slows us down to have to go in there and do all that re-do mess that is not just editing and we should be able to do 3 to 1. Heck 1 to 1 if we're lucky.

...dictators who back up over themselves are always going to be there. VR doesn't know the doctor just baked up,it just types. VR doesn't know when the dictator turns to a colleague and talks about something unrelated to the document, and it shows up on the document.

I had a dictator talk for about 3 minutes about Superbowl scores, and there was a mess on my screen you wouldn't believe and couldn't tell where I was supposed to pick up.

So, I don't blame VR. We certainly aren't going to fix the dictators.....

make the most per line - then isn't it ironic that they were offering pay increases to those who went through the (expensive) certification process? That was a great way for ADHI to make $$ and then they would cut any MT who was making more! Catch-22! ...

I just sent an email to the school I graduated from (Career Step). I told them (they probably already know) HOW BAD IT HAS GOTTEN - replaced by cheaper East Indian so-called transcriptionists, no work, no benefits - give me a break! 8 cpl is what I started at 6 or 7 years ago, I'm still seeing this number and of course much lower. How are companies getting away with this nonsense of not paying for spaces, paying 5 cpl, etc. In my opinion 8 cpl + typing for large teaching hospitals with 18 pages of specifications = really low pay. Why is MModal posting job openings, when so many of use are running out of work or worse falling into the pool--what with the pay cuts, VR being paid half even though it takes nearly as long to edit most reports, and the fact that I only get my "primary" accounts about 30% of the time and the rest of the time I am typing from the pool so that nearly every report that comes up is a new facility or dictator, I have gone from making $16 an hour to minimum wage. I see so many complaints about MModal. Does anyone actually like them? I'm in the hiring process and they are calling with an offer. I would like to try it out. I work in-house now, but eventually my position will be eliminated due to VR. I do not make that great of pay, and have lots of down time, but still have to sit in the office all day. Left MModal 18 mos. ago and have been on here encouraging everybody that there is life after MQ/MM. This week my wonderful clinic goes live with EMR. The trainer won't even recognize transcription. I am so sick of Mmodal. I resigned recently and I keep getting letters to return things that I have never ever owned or received or stuff that I had sent back to them years ago. The DEPOT apparently is as ignorant as the rest of them. SO glad I found real job that pays, respects and appreciates their employees. I have only one PC to return and they sent me five boxes and a bunch of labels and stating that I have in my possession 7 different things.... OMG.. what a joke!!! ...

can you specify exactly what laws they have broken? Yes, we are all unhappy here, but I cannot see that they have done anything they cannot do legally. The last judgment against them was for witholding pay. I think they are too smart to break laws again. What do you expect to gain anyway by suing a company that has filed bankruptcy, which is always a very smart business move to make if you can get away with it. ...
