Being audited? - dnr

Posted: Dec 11, 2009

Am I being audited?  Lately, I have had work show up in my QA'd in box that I have not submitted, but there is no score in the score column.  These aren't doctors that have previously been on 100% QA.  The corrections have mostly been little picky things, things corrected to something that is not per the client protocol  such as changing the patient's name to the patient or fixing what was verbatim to a better sentence (our accounts are verbatim).

I had the same thing - shipwrecked

I had the same thing yesterday. Got back a report that didn't have any blanks, and had a lot of ridiculous corrections, like adding an "s" or placing or removing commas. Some phrases have been retyped, and it looks exactly what I had typed.

After seeing so many MTs come on board here and post that their normally good-quality work is being nit-picked, I'm convinced that MQ is just throwing snowballs at us just to see who will fall down and quit. I'm also convinced their goal is to make the higher-paid, better quality MTs quit so they could say there's either a shortage of good American MTs and must off-shore, or hire newbies for less money. Makes no sense, I know, but that's the sterling MQ for ya.

I think Medquist's new serious attention to audits is linked to the ILP. MQ never earnestly, consistently followed through with this until they began offshoring more and more work to India. I personally am convinced they will winnow our ranks until they can justify shipping almost everything offshore. A series of failing audits gives them the justification they need to dump lots of MTs. Anyone who passes, can have the privilege and pleasure of remaining with Medquist to be an MME at 3 cents a line and help India learn the accounts. I don't think there is anything that will change, I don't see it stopping, and the letter mailed out a while back from the new guy at Corporate (don't remember his name) as much as said "They're here to stay." Even though I'm passing my audits, I'm going broke at this pay and I'm looking for another job. Medquist was a great place for a long time but things they are a changin'.

No I am not management, but it drives me crazy when MTs complaint about "little things like commas, and adding an s". For crying out loud people - WHEN are you going to understand that proper, plan old grammar skills are going to keep you employed! Any idiot can look up medical terminology, but a skilled medical transcriptionist produces a high-quality document with proper grammar IN ADDITION TO excellent medical terminology. That is why the work goes offshore (looks like a bargain to management/client at first) and then comes back - becuase of the picky little English things like commas.

Let the flames begin.

No flames here, although......... - kiki

Nit-picking in this case means things like (for instances, commas) that are considered optional or when there is more than one way of doing something, and the MT gets marked off for personal preference. Not actual grammatical errors.

OP is not clear on that - pushindapedal

The OP mentions, in addition to unspecified minor (in his/her opinion) changes, changing the patient's name to "the patient" which is a huge change, and I doubt very much that this is not specified in the CP. This is the type of thing I mean. I have never had an audited correction that was not correct and in accordance with the CP, and my audits have been at or above 99%, so unless MQ has a dual personality, I think it is more likely that the complainers don't like change, don't take feedback well, and/or simply like to complain.
You're assuming that the particular MME/QA actually - dnr

is better at grammar, transcription, etc. than the MT being corrected. As for changing the patient's name to the patient, it is specified in my account's CP not to change this and to type verbatim. I so wish I could do like the old days and help some doctors create a coherent report and fix the ESL's grammar problems.

No flames..but very ironic your post lamenting the loss of grammar - and punctuation is peppered with typos NM

I don't worry about things that QA "nit picks" on me unless it is in an actual audit and they take off points for it. If it is some of the "no points" value items why worry about it if it doesn't count against you? I figure if they want to waste their time sweating the little things and correcting them they can have at it. They are not supposed to inject their own personal style into an audit or even a non audit. If something is changed it should be per client profile that was over-looked or if they go by the BOS II, it should be something they can back up in that.

Re-audited
Dec 10, 2013

Just got an audit report. I noticed that the subject line said re-audit. Huh? Didn't even know I was in "trouble". I am the MT who failed an audit last week by 0.15%, and, I am also the person who got dinged for "adding" the word "and" when they claim the doctor said "uh". I passed this re-audit. Wonder if I will be audited again next week. I think I have been audited 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Twice since "failing". So, I have passed 2 out of 3 audits. ...

QC Being Audited?
Dec 17, 2014

Keep hearing that QA and QC are audited also.  Anyone willing to share info on that.  I am betting there is no way they are audited as strictly as we are and who the heck audits them anyway.  they audit each other?  that's sweet.  Seriously, anyone have info on their requirements to share. I feel like they are sitting in judgment on us and have control over our wages, but we are constantly told they are monitored too.  Will have to prove it to me.  I don& ...

My CCM Just Called. I Just Got Audited.
Jun 15, 2011

I hope this post quells some tempers and fears.  Obviously there are a lot of audits going on.  I got the call and my CCM said "just wanted to let you know that you are going great.  You were audited and are right where you need to be with quality and are above production level".  She said thank you very much and that she appreciated my hard work.  I asked her if she ever frequented this board, she said yes.  I told her about the firing posts and she said that peo ...

maybe its my luck to have an extremely anal auditor, but find it hard to swallow I am getting dinged for a's and the's, therefore in a very long report (234 lines), I do not make the ridiculous 99%, like 98.75.  Every month I get audited, and I have complete confidence in my abilities and attention to detail, but not when I am micromanaged and held to a percentage that is unfair.  ...

How Do I Look Up An Audited Report?
Feb 19, 2015

I have never really bothered to look up any audited reports to see what I did wrong, because my average is always high enough that I don't worry about those little errors, but I wanted to look one up today and I have no clue how to find it after it has been edited. Does Anyone Else Get Audited When They Request Time Off?

Jobs Sent To QC1 ARE Post-audited
Dec 01, 2013

I found out last week that jobs submitted for blanks to QC1 can still be pulled for post-audit.  You have to double check your jobs submitted for QC1 against your post-audits because if you don't catch it you can and will be marked off on your post-audit for something the QC1 or QC2 reviewers made a mistake on.  This happened to me and it was reversed but my TSM told me they have no way of knowing which jobs have been to QC when they pull them.  Then you also have to make sur ...

Report Audited In Fiesa Is One I Did Not Do

99.7% Versus Number Of Lines Audited
May 07, 2014

Anybody know if there is a "standard" for number of lines to be audited on?  All of my audits have been for under 200 lines.  I never pass.  It seems to me that if you sample such a small number, you are more likely to have errors and thus fail an audit.  Are each of us being held to different standards as far as lines audited?  Are some people audited on 500 or 600 lines and others to a smaller number?  If we have to be held to 99.7%, shouldn't there be a cons ...

The one report that is in there from 12/3 is higher than that. I have no idea what they base this 99.0% score on. I guess this is just a number that felt right to them, so they went with it. I'm not the only one with no audited reports for the pay week and a 99.0% score. This must be an automatic score you receive if you have no audti ...

Question On Amount Of Audited Reports - Nuance
Jan 05, 2015

I'm wondering, how many reports on average are pulled each week for audit?  Does anyone find it varies, for example, they may pull 1 or 2 one week then 7 or 8 (that are all 100% accurate) the next week, but keep pulling until they find something to knock down your accuracy rating for that pay week so you end up with 12 or 13 reports audited?  ...
