This is related to a post below, but because it's lower in the page and kinda more detailed, I'll repeat here. Surely work can't be THAT low on ALL accounts here, right? And I'm willing to reveal the offer I was given (I know you're not supposed to do that here but I'll do it via email, or if I'm told I CAN do it here, I will) if someone is willing to tell me if that's average, higher or lower than usual for there. I got offered acute care, a new account with one weekend day. I was assured (having seen some posts here) that although work wouldl be low to start, that's because it's a new account, and that it will pick up; also that I will be trained on a secondary so I shouldn't be stuck staring fruitlessly at the computer all day, which is what I'm doing at my current job. I also was told that while there's VR, it's not as much as I'm having to do (for 2 cents per line less) right now at my current job, so overall it sure sounds on paper like a better deal. Right?

I wouldn't reveal your rate of pay to anyone, here or in e-mail. Could open a huge can of worms if someone didn't get as good an offer. Of course, that's up to you.

As for the amount of work for a U.S. MT, I think the whole industry is going down the tubes. Not sure if you'll have a better deal anywhere than where you are--hard to know, it's a gamble no matter what you're told during an interview. There cold be a flight to India in the blink of an eye at any company. I think the bigger the company, the better the chance of a serious flight. I'm not zero-ing in on DSG, just giving overall information.

It seems since ASR started the work rather dried up. No clue what happened but it sure isnt there primary or secondary.

Is 4 cents what they usually offer? I was told that this was also dependent on experience in MT (I have a fair amount of it) and whether it's acute care or hospital.

When I was doing QA there, it was by the line, depending on experience, but that was before the switch to ASR. It was a decent rate, but I still went back to MT.

I am sick to death of being bounced all over the place! I would love to force the QA lead and CCM to swich every 10 minutes as well... Recently I was told the account I've been on for the past decade is going to voice recognition. Having worked on a VR platform briefly, I know I don't want to get screwed making half the money with longer hours. I'm going to be sending out brochures to doctors' offices in my area. I'm wondering which specialties would be the best ones to target - i.e., more likely to outsource their transcription to an individual transcriptionist, least likely to have EMR or EPIC. The worst thing to me is when you get a few jobs in a row and try to build up some momentum, then OOW again!
