Not to worry. The narrative is never going away, thanks to the billions of dollars MTSOs stand to lose should "meaningful use" inexplicably dump the narrative.

BE VERY CAUTIOUS as to which basket you put your eggs in. I would not be too enthusiastic about supporting ADHI in any of their lobbying efforts.

ALL of these organizations are scrambling to secure the role of the MTSO, and hence, offshoring.

If our employers are scrambling to offshore and front-end all work, - I am afraid which basket just will not matter.

My basket of choice is the assumption that retaining all communication options for clinicians will work best for providers and patients and in the process retain some MT/ME jobs.

As for AHDI, they neither power nor steer this ship, nor for that matter, I'm afraid, do the MTSOs. It's in the hands of the providers and the federal government, thus my little message to the government. The wishes of MTs who simply want to keep their jobs shouldn't sway the commission, of course; I wrote because, as agreed, inclusion of narrative is critical to communication.

BTW, IMO offshoring is a tiny fraction of the threat to our jobs that advances in technology are. The big MTSOs are all retooling to offer services that do not include us, and if and when we're no longer needed the surviving MTSOs will continue on (under a new acronym, of course).

is to make their stupid CMT "credential" mandatory, and further line their own pockets. AHDI doesn't give a u-know-what for MTs, and most certainly not American MTs. All they care about is themselves.

should have sent an order to Congress requiring them to outlaw it? Absurd. If you understand your world even a little better, you'll be able to target your resentment far more effectively. At me, for instance. Some will understand why I'm glad to be anonymous when I say I worked on the project at Caltech developing the grid of satellites that allows people in North Dakota to compete for jobs in Massachusetts.

I am not stupid, nor am I naive, nor do I lack experience. I am happy that you got job satisfaction helping MTs in Massachessetts get a job. Brownie points for you, but that does not change the situation with the AHDI.

As many of you know, EMR companies charge fees upwards of 15,000 dollars to allow transcription companies to integrate with them. This barrier to entry will lead to us all being replaced by voice recognition or point and click unless we all do something. There is no reason transcriptionists can not co-exist with EMR's. Doctors still need someone to type their records up for them. It is simply a faster and a more efficient use of resources to keep us in the loop. Eliminating these EMR fees ...
