As many of you know, EMR companies charge fees upwards of 15,000 dollars to allow transcription companies to integrate with them. This barrier to entry will lead to us all being replaced by voice recognition or point and click unless we all do something.

There is no reason transcriptionists can not co-exist with EMR's. Doctors still need someone to type their records up for them. It is simply a faster and a more efficient use of resources to keep us in the loop. Eliminating these EMR fees would help secure every MT's jump in the future by enabling us to continue to operate in this space without any unreasonable barriers.

it won't save the transcription jobs, just allow the doctors to move into emr faster. It is all going to point and click anyway, so why make it easier for them? not me. I'm not signing that.

No Anon - I think you understand this wrong - having read the petition it clearly indicates that the fees are imposed by EMR companies on the clients (and their corresponding MTSOs/MTs) should they would wish to keep using their current transcription company and/or MTs and would like to be able to integrate with their EMR.

It is these fees that are in place which are forcing many doctors and clinics to instead decide to go with point and click or voice rec even if they don't want to because they aren't able to pay the extra fees to have their current transcription service or MTs (namely us) continue doing the work for them....the EMRs are essentially preventing us from being able to work with them by charging these ridiculously high fees to allow for integration....if the fees weren't there then the doctors and clinics could continue to work with us...sign this petition!

It appears we have two detractors saying we don't know what we are talking about. Not surprisingly, these people are anonymous and don't explain their point. Perhaps they come from the EMR industry. I'm signing and so should you.

Both posts are probably the same person. Fact is, it does make perfect sense and is not a misrepresentation. To the one who claimed otherwise, we're not as dumb as you think we are and certainly not as dumb as you. This makes perfect sense, and everyone should sign.

I am also a lifelong MT and posted the one stating that you don't know what you are talking about. Truthfully, it makes no sense to me. The EHR is slated to be fully functional by 2014 and the fees providers pay are not going away regardless of how many petitions we sign. I also observed that the name in the link to the web site looks suspiciously foreign, which would be another reason I wouldn't go there. It may be someone trying to collect e-mail addresses so they can spam your inbox.

posting using real names here has nothing to do with content of post being truthful. Holy cow, if that were true EVERYONE can be called a liar at any given whim. Using real names is against posting guidelines, and those posts at times get removed by moderator. Would not want to see that happen.

I work on eBTXT and am told there is no way for me to relisten to the audio after it goes to QA, but of course my TSM can, which gets me nowhere. Is there a way to save the voice file to my computer? I would of course delete any patient demographics. I hate not being able to relisten to my reports that QA reviewed, especially since they're just guessing and changing what they want. Now that I have your attention . . .it is THAT TIME of year again. Before you order your 2013 code books, remember that there is only one ICD-9 diagnosis code change for 2013. You do not need to buy a new book this year. Just get the change from the CDC website and add it by hand. Same with the procedures.
