-- can you treat it. Certainly, you can't get paid for doing anything with it. So, study up, doc.

And if you can't SPELL it, - you have no business prescribing it either

And that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

(If I had a dollar for every time they've spelled a drug name for me and got it wrong, I could have retired 10 years ago.)

between "hydrocortisone" and "hydrocodone"?

Does anyone else have this happen, or is it just the account I'm on?

The other day, I had one dictate this:

"Dilaudid 65 mg 1-2 tabs p.o. q.4 h. prn pain."

Well, after that first 65 mg dose of DILAUDID gets into their system, I doubt the patient will be needing that second dose, since the patient would be DEAD. Obviously, the RN meant Darvon but said Dilaudid clear as a bell.

No wonder hospitals get sued all of the time. Think of what the statistics would be without we MTs catching a good portion of their errors.

transition into MT without any training/schooling because they have enough experience, LOL. I had one today who pronounced Alphagan as Alphajin and spelled it Alphagen, pronounced Lumagan as Lumajin, and then pronounced Pravachol as pravastol very clearly (like she wanted to make sure I got it). I can't even begin to describe what she did with levobunolol. I am glad she is not prescribing medications.

When you get NJA you have the 3 options as we did before. When you choose to "make up time", at the very end of the explaination, it says something along the line of entering a leave request on teamwork for excused no pay? I really don't see what it matters now that we don't get PTO and if we aren't getting paid for it so what. Seems stupid to me that they would care how much time we have off if they aren't paying us anyway but anyone know now the most days you can take for the year part time and full time? Does anyone know the BOS rule for drug names that are technically all caps, i.e., TUMS, GRALISE? Do they stay all caps or is it okay to capitalize just the first letter, or is it company/client preference? QA is telling me just to capitalize the first letter so as not to draw more attention than needed to the drug name in the report, but I can't document this in the Book of Style. For decades, I have always been trained and told never to start a sentence with a number and to spell it out or add something like the work A or The like: The 20-year-old patient... instead of: 20-year-old patient...
