Nuance - Q4 2012 results...BARF - Unbelievable

See below for what Nuance did for 4th Quarter 2012. - it is very involved - but - at the top of page two they state they expect revenue from Healthcare to be 1 BILLION in 2013 - Then on page 3 in the Question/Answer section Paul Ricci Chief Exe Officer states:

" It has been and continues to be our strategy to diminish the amount of labor contribution even as we have acquired some firms with large labor populations. Our goal over time is to get greater leverage out of that labor contribution over more customers and that continues to be our policy"

Bet you can guess what this means!!!!!

This guy needs to lose his job and be on the streets. I cannot believe their goal is to get rid of the labor. I wish I could just find some docs to work for one on one again. This third and fourth party people in the middle is just rediculous. Greed, and more greed.

I had always thought that the purpose of technology was to improve the quality of life of the laborer. Apparently not so. How many switch-board operators and receptionists were put out of work by automated answering services? How many many workers became unemployed because a technology came along that can make the same car with fewer laborers? How many store cashiers are unemployed because now the computer can scan your purchases and take your money? And now we transcriptionists are going down the same path. Apparently theh purpose of technology is not to make the employee's job easier, but to eliminate the employee completely. So who is going to be purchasing all their lovely products once we are all unemployed?

Have a good TSM, so I shouldn't complain too much. Maybe if MModal hired fewer employees from Microsoft they could afford to pay transcriptionist better and allow for cost of living raises. I have been a transcriptionist for going on 30 years and this company is one of the reasons we can't make a living wage. I almost sent a report to QA. The only reason I didn't was because it was a high line count document and I couldn't risk the possible submission rate due to its high line count. Not very wise choice of how to grade the submission rate MQ. I don't like sending a document to the client with blanks, but there comes a time when self protection kicks in. PM likes the FTR low QA submission rate. We will see how PM likes it when the clients starting noticing ...
