As I was reading through a lot of the depressing posts I thought I would share my experience. I have been an MT for almost 4 years. I was with the same company for almost 3 as an IC. I worked part-time to stay home with my kids. I completely agree with others about how hard it can be with the being in work mode all the time and the ups and downs. At the time I wasn't the sole provider though. However my husband got laid off the beginning of this year and I started to look for full-time outside the home. I randomly came across an ad for a dermatopathology company on craigslist of all places, and although my previous experience is orthopedics, I got hired at $16 an hour with excellent benefits. (I credit my cover letter and interview skills) It's been a hard transition to be away from my kids and working full-time at an office, but I see now how lucky I am. If you are really that unhappy with your current position be sure to keep searching and hopefully you can find that one perfect opporunity.

And at the end of May was recruited by a fantastic company as an IC working from home doing psych - straight typing! I am loving the job and the flexibility of being an IC. I've been an IC in the past, so saving for my taxes is not a problem for me. My advice for people who need to stay home to work - POST ON MT STARS YOUR RESUME! You never know when a great company will recruit you! My company only does recruiting and does not an employment link on its page. It only looks for people as it needs people, which means always lots of work available and not hundreds of applications to go thru. Just be patient, the good jobs are still out there. :)

psych experience posted on your resume? This just sounds like an ideal job to me. I have previous experience, although I had to take a handwritten evaluation and type it up. Talk about time consuming, especially with poor writing skills for some of the docs. LOL

This person has a private practice and she pays me $20-24/hour. Unfortunately, she is much older and does it part-time, so i don't make enough to keep working for her exclusively. The new IC job I got must have seen that on my resume and offered me a position. So if you have previous experience, put that on your resume and post on here. You don't know if/when you may be picked up. I think i said before, I posted my resume in March and the company picked me up at the end of May, so she was willing to look pretty far back into resumes to find what she was looking for.

Check with the BBB. They shouldn't just have NO activity, but be part of the ongoing audit, not just boast they have had NO activity. Heck, I have had no activity!!! It is only as good as what is submitted. You may have been in business 10+ years but screwed people over 5+ years of that time. If no one reports you, the activity continues.... Watch RIPOFF reports. I know these things have probably been covered before here, but could someone please give me some general advice on what it is to be an IC? Do you just send the IRS a quarterly payment and that's it? What about Social Security and matching? I have always done my own taxes, but I am in new territory here and probably will need a tax preparer now, but until then..... Also, when testing for companies, I find I cannot use my foot pedal with some. How can I do that? ...

Seems like the specialities are not listed and instead it just says medicine so it is really hard to find some doctors, and the search by just specialty just doesn't work anymore? I've had to go into the hospital websites several times today to find a doc by the specialty, cause God forbid they spell the off the wall names. ...

Honestly, why when you search a company do tons of posts from 2006 and previous come up and you have to go through pages and pages of old posts before you see the recent info?The posts should be date order, latest first, IMHO. Who cares what people wrote about a company in 2006 when so many things have changed? Is it just me..I am on their company desktop so curious...If I am in a report and go to the F5 to search the all mighty repository then it messes up my DocQmanage search page and I have to sign out of there and resign in from scratch, doesnt even save my initial information..And why cant we be in the docqmanage search area and the docqmanage area that has the QA feedback at the same time..Having to constantly sign in and out is causing more trouble then anything.. ...
