Job searching - mting

I have been recently sending out my resume along with inquiring whether certain companies I am interested in are currently hiring. About 90% have not had even the courtesy to acknowledge receiving the e-mail. I am wondering if anyone also recently looking has had this problem and if anyone knows if companies not hiring generally keep this info on file or does it make sense in a month or two to recontact. I can certainly tell the market has changed and would love to know what other job-seeking MTs are experiencing. Thanks.

I am not sure why, because I only have seven years of experience. I was wondering if companies maybe do not want people who have worked for so MANY companies. I know that before I started working at home I have heard employers not want to even call and interview a person because they have had "too many jobs" and although of course it's not the MT's problem that companies fold up, stop paying, run low on work, etc, but I wonder if that is the issue.

I had two jobs that I started out doing when I worked at home and I left one, kept the other, and then got another part-time. Well, then about 6 months ago I lost my full-time job and I applied for a job at 10 companies. I got my new job right away, which I LOVE my company, BUT I got responses and offers for interviews from at least 9 outu of the 10 jobs I applied. I STILL receive emails every couple of weeks from jobs I applied with asking me if I would be interested in employment now.

It isn't that my experiences is less and they can "pay less" either, because I do get paid pretty good at both of my current jobs. That's all I can figure though.

As far as your question, as much of a pain in the butt as it is.....emailing them and "asking" them if they are hiring probably will not work. You need to apply/test, it's an aggravating process, but it has to be done.

I am new to this board, but I am having the same problem trying to find a job. I've worked 9 years as a remote part-time MT for a hospital. I've applied with several companies with job openings, but either do not hear back or find that the positions are already filled. Also, could someone explain to me if I need to "persistantly" apply to a company who states they have my application on file, or do I wait "6 months", for the length of time my application is supposedly on file, before applying again.

Check with the BBB. They shouldn't just have NO activity, but be part of the ongoing audit, not just boast they have had NO activity. Heck, I have had no activity!!! It is only as good as what is submitted. You may have been in business 10+ years but screwed people over 5+ years of that time. If no one reports you, the activity continues.... Watch RIPOFF reports. I know these things have probably been covered before here, but could someone please give me some general advice on what it is to be an IC? Do you just send the IRS a quarterly payment and that's it? What about Social Security and matching? I have always done my own taxes, but I am in new territory here and probably will need a tax preparer now, but until then..... Seems like the specialities are not listed and instead it just says medicine so it is really hard to find some doctors, and the search by just specialty just doesn't work anymore? Honestly, why when you search a company do tons of posts from 2006 and previous come up and you have to go through pages and pages of old posts before you see the recent info?The posts should be date order, latest first, IMHO. Who cares what people wrote about a company in 2006 when so many things have changed? Is it just me..I am on their company desktop so curious...If I am in a report and go to the F5 to search the all mighty repository then it messes up my DocQmanage search page and I have to sign out of there and resign in from scratch, doesnt even save my initial information..And why cant we be in the docqmanage search area and the docqmanage area that has the QA feedback at the same time..Having to constantly sign in and out is causing more trouble then anything.. ...
