So sad that when I started in 1996, I was making 7 cpl...
Told this was the new average for industry... - SM

I was given less than 3 hours' notice for this new pay and was told it would put our company in line with the rest of the industry. I do not believe this statement. I have never heard of 7 cpl for acute care work on extremely difficult accounts before and wanted to know if this is really true. I have an offer with another company but if we are headed this way as an "industry" what's the point? So depressing. I certainly do not want to stay with a company who is yanking my chain and possibly in trouble financially either.
Debating to stay or leave - SM

I do not want to stay and just accept this if I am being lied to and help make this the new low and cause the rest of us to be cut this low eventually, but does leaving make a statement? I don't think companies care anymore because someone will take this pay and be "thankful" for a job. By the time we pay for our Internet, long distance (use C-Phone), and the other equipment needed to perform our jobs, it almost is coming down to me paying them to work for them. =(
I thought the standard was 8 for straight and 4 for ASR - what I thought

Not anymore. I have been looking and with 22 years experience, I am being offered 6 to 7 cpl. sm - Tired and Old

I think that the companies that don't lower their rates are running into financial trouble. I was actually an MTSO for a short period and was pushed out by pricing by the big companies. They charge less and less so they have to pay less and less and smaller companies have to either match the rates or go out of business.
For ASR, the new is 3 to 3.5 cpl and for straight typing, it seems that 7 is the new offer out there.
Yes for part time. nm - Recruiter

I have been the recruiter for 3 companies now, and 7 cpl is average for PT. I have even been told to offer 7 cpl for IC's. There are a lot of MTs who will take that. I have worked for a small company that was bought by MQ and for two mid-sized companies. All the rates are going lower and lower.
I'd hate to know what non-acute care make - SM

I am starting to wonder if it would be easier to make money doing easier than acute care. This is just beyond crazy. Acute care is difficult, usually lots of ESL, and difficult account rules and now we are being paid very close to what newbies are paid it appears.

Acute Care - Define Please! And Standard 4 Jan 14, 2010I have been an MT for 16 years and I am still not totally sure what "acute care" means and it is on almost every ad. Does this always include Ops notes? I also can only make educated guesses about what the Standard Four are too. I am frantically looking for a job - no work at my current one - and I need to understand these terms better so I don't waste my time. I have no Ops experience and seems everyone wants this. Discouraging. I have done only ER work ...

Why Does Acute Care Have More ESL? Nov 10, 2012I transcribe both clinic and some acute care, and the acute care that I transcribe has a higher percentage of ESL dictators. It seems like that is typical for acute care. Why is that? Are the ESL doctors drawn more to being hospitalists? ...

Acute Care? Sep 23, 2014As a relative newbie MT, I'm not certain what "acute care" means. Does it mean basically all reports that are from doctors in the hospital setting? That is, would any hospital operative note, hospital progress note, and all discharge summaries be considered "acute care"?
I know a clinic note is basically a note by an outpatient doctor, right? And it's basically about more minor medical problems albeit could be chronic rather than "acute." ...

Working As An MT Acute Care... Feb 22, 2010I completed my education with Everett Community College in their Career Step program for MT training in Dec. 2006. Accentus Acute Care Mar 23, 2013Does anyone know why Accentus Acute Care seems to always have the same job ad hiring for acute care MTs that pays a sign-on bonus?
