TransTech acute care? - Wondering

I see that TransTech just placed an ad for acute care MTs. I was hoping that someone who currently works there or has worked for them in the past could share how your experience was. Do you run out of work a lot? Are they an overall good company to work for and treat their MTs well? I remember reading in the distant past that a lot of people there were running out of work a lot. Is this still an issue or a thing of the past? Any feedback on this company would be great! I'm considering sending them my resume, but would like to hear the good and the bad first.

They only pay 6.5/line, 4.5 for speech, but they have been a really great company to work for. I had seen the posts also about running out of work but I never do. In fact, the account I am on, I rarely even have to go to a secondary account. I am not sure about other accounts. The platform is easy but needs to be updated. It is not as advanced as some out there.

I made even more than that at my very first transcription job ever! I appreciate the info. You just saved me a bunch of time. I think I'll pass! No matter how good of a company they are and even if there is an endless amount work, I can't earn a decent living earning only 6.5 cpl. Wow. I'll stay where I am for now.

I made 8.5/cpl with incentives and constantly ran out of work WITH backup accounts.
Maybe you always have work because you will work for 6.5. I'm thinking perhaps people there aren't as nice as you think.

Same salary and same lack of work here, too. My backup account was so horrendous I couldn't make even minimum wage what with the ridiculous account specs, client quirks, etc., and the (unpaid) demographics were quite time consuming. With 3 accounts and pay periods rapidly spiraling downward, I bid adieu and latched onto a dream of an offer and haven't looked back.

Just wanted to clarify when I agreed with Notlyin's post, I meant I was making her 8.5 cpl salary but didn't have nearly enough work. Heck, don't feel for the poster making 6.5 cpl - At least she never runs out of work, so she's probably bringing home a lot more moolah than I did my last 6 months there, LOL!

I honestly don't think I've ever heard of a company paying a line rate that low for straight typing. I'm sure there may be some others out there, but this is the first one I've actually seen. Like the OP, my very first transcription job several years ago also paid more than that at 7.5 cpl. I can't believe anyone would take a job offering only 6.5 cpl! That's just insulting, especially after all of the money a lot of MTs spend on their education. That just makes me sick!

I thinking that poster that said 6.5 might have been a troll or something. I've never heard of TT paying that low. Granted, I left due to low work, but I too was paid the 8.5/4.5. I just cannot picture TT offering only 6.5 cpl. I notice that person hasn't posted again, so I'm thinking it either (a) was someone trolling to get a reaction and making people give the side-eye to TT or (b) It was a typo and she meant 8.5 but is now too embarrassed to correct it. But, yeah, their pay is 8.5/4.5 and, like MedQuist, I think that's the flat rate, no exceptions.

I don't know why this board is so accusatory. I read this thread (and I don't work for this company) but what if this person was hired as a newbie and that's what she was offered and took it? I feel bad if they found out on here they had been taken advantage of, and top of that being accused of some ulterior motive for posting. I guess I don't get what purpose would it serve for someone to make up a 6.5 cpl to "troll".

As a relative newbie MT, I'm not certain what "acute care" means. Does it mean basically all reports that are from doctors in the hospital setting? That is, would any hospital operative note, hospital progress note, and all discharge summaries be considered "acute care"? I know a clinic note is basically a note by an outpatient doctor, right? And it's basically about more minor medical problems albeit could be chronic rather than "acute." ...

I would love to know how you get acute care experience when no one will give you the opportunity without it. I am good at what I do and work hard. Does anyone know why Accentus Acute Care seems to always have the same job ad hiring for acute care MTs that pays a sign-on bonus? It seems as though either they never fill these positions or they are so difficult nobody stays. I've been in transcription since 1998, doing clinic work for about 13 of those, then moving to acute care consisting of H&P, consults, and discharge summaries....but not op notes. I see so many jobs for acute care work, but they only want people who've done all four. My question is, how do you go about learning to do op notes in order to obtain one of those jobs?
