Calculating lines... - stronger coffee needed

Posted: Aug 23, 2011

Good morning :)

I have been sitting here trying to figure out how many lines I would have to do a day to make $500 to $600 a week at 8 cpl.  Now either my brain is completely fried or my coffee needs to be stronger, but I cannot remember how to calculate this.  Can anyone help a girl out this morning??

Thank you so much :)

The easiest way to do it is to take the dollar amount you want, and divide that by 0.08. For $600, it comes out to 7500 lines. Of course, that figure would be before taxes, so if you are looking for 600 take home, you would first have to figure out how much you pay for taxes, benefits, et cetera before you could figure things.

Assuming take home of 600 a week - Happy MT Robin

Here's how I figure it.

Take home = 600 a week.

Taxes 25% total including Fed, state, and FICA. Your actual figures may vary, but this is a good guestimate.

600 divided by .75 = 800.

(you're looking for a larger number, i.e., the number before taxes, so you divide)

You want to gross $800 a week, so 800/0.08 = 10,000 lines a week or 2000 lines a day in a 5 day work week

Bringing home $500 a week

500/.75 = 667 a week
667/0.08 = 8338 lines per week.

Hope that helps

Hi. . if you want to make $500 a week. . x .08 cpl. . on calculator put in .08 x 7000 = $560 a week. If you type 1000 lines a day x 5 days a week at .08 cpl that = $80.00 a day x 5 days = $400 a week. To reach $560 a week you must type (7000 divided by 5 days a week =) 1400 lines a day. Good luck.

Is It True That FOCUS, Only Counts Half Of Your Lines When Calculating VR Lines?
Jan 30, 2012

if you make 4 cents per line at 1000 lines a day, they really calculate it at 500 lines per day x 4 cents, making it really 2 cents per line for the full 1000.   I heard this, and I am really interested in knowing if it is true. ...

Question About Calculating Speech Lines???
May 29, 2015

I'm sure this has been asked but can someone please tell me what happens with speech line requirements when they are calculating your CLPH. It has to be 100 or more. If I do speech lines today and I do 500 lines for example, do they calculate the 500 and divide by my hours to get my CLPH OR do they take the 500, divide in half and THEN use the 250 divided by my hours to get my CLPH??? Show me in this example- 500 lines speech, worked 5 hours. CLPH would be 100 LPH in that example OR do th ...

Calculating Lines Per Hour Versus Time Worked
May 14, 2010

Hi everyone:) Just wanted to know how to calculate a line rate based on the number of hours worked, which is for Transcend.  Got a "not so nice" message from my TL saying I had better adjust my lines AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to make it balance out with the # of lines I am producing, or else!!  I would like to know if 1 of you kind, wonderful MTs would help me.  Thanks!! ...

They Are Calculating OT Correctly
Sep 21, 2012

Heard back from the Department of Labor who verified that OT is calculated correctly.  Per the client library, FAQ June 2012, it is calculated as an hourly rate and then we are paid 50% of that.  They recalculate this every pay period based on how many lines we did, divided by 80.  Just updating everyone.  ...

Calculating Overtime
Apr 03, 2015

Not only cut in pay, it seems like the OT is no longer time and a half.  I can't believe the amount of money I have lost.  Anyone know how they figure overtime??   Also, I seemed to notice that whenever we complain about  FIESA, like about them picking short reports, it seems to happen even more.  It makes me think they probably read this forum too and get a good laugh out of it.  Sorry, but I tend to believe they resent us because we make more money than they ...

Told Nuance Was Overcharging For Lines, Now Lines Drastically Reduced
May 02, 2012

My main account was a good one, and the lines were very good, mostly ER work. I have been on this account for over a year and a half now. We recently received an e-mail stating that Nuance had discovered that the line count was charging incorrectly, as instituted by them, and they had been crediting us with MORE lines than we were actually doing and overcharging the client. Now get this, they informed us that they would not make US pay it back, for their mistake, but that our new lines would re ...

TransTech Lines - Required Hours But Are Short Lines?
Jun 10, 2011

What do you do when you have the required hours but are short lines? I got an email that I need to "make plans to have my shortage made up." The only problem is that I'm up to date with my hours for the pay period so far. The other problem is that I have plans Saturday night and Sunday (both being my scheduled time off) that don't include TransTech. It's getting harder and harder to defend this company when they can't hold up their end of the agreement and continually ...

TransTech Lines - How Many Lines Do You Average During The Day/week?
Jan 19, 2011

Just wondering if the TT MTs would like share ... how many lines do you average during the day/week?  I'm doing about 9,000 to 10,000 a week and wonder if I should be pushing myself more.  How much of your count is VR?  I do probably 15% traditional and 85% VR but that, of course, varies week to week.   ...

TransTech Lines - How Many Lines Do You Average Per Day
Jul 13, 2011

How many lines do you average per day - VR and traditional?  I know it's been VERY slow lately, but when things are going well, how many lines do you normally get? I'm trying to figure out where the average numbers are.  For me, I do about 350 trad and about 1400 VR in 8 hours. Well, my timesheet says 8 hours, but my clock says that number MAY(!) be a little higher.  Again, these are numbers I pull when things are going well and I'm not waiting for work to download. I'v ...

150 Lines Per Hr Or ASR 350?
Sep 09, 2011

so I get my offer from MedQuist today after they acquired AllType.  In order to qualify for benefits, I have to type 150 lines per hr or do voice recognition editing at 350 per hr.  I don't know if I can do this.  On a good account, no problem.  But ASR on accounts I have been doing are ridiculous, so many random errors, no way you can skim through them.  Any body out there that consistently gets these line counts every week without working more than 39 hrs per week ...

Can Anyone Tell Me (lines)......
Jan 29, 2015

how they calculate your lph rate now? Minimum is 100 clph. I'm wondering b/c since they half the speech lines, this does not seem to be your true accurate LPH. For instance if I type 100 in an hour and do 100 speech in the same hour, do they strictly look at that and say your LPH is 200 OR do they say 100 for regular, only 50 for speech, so your LPH is 150? B/c as you see, the later formula makes it appear as if you actually do less when in fact you don't and that is not accurate. I as ...
