150 lines per hr or ASR 350? - donna

Posted: Sep 09, 2011

so I get my offer from MedQuist today after they acquired AllType.  In order to qualify for benefits, I have to type 150 lines per hr or do voice recognition editing at 350 per hr.  I don't know if I can do this.  On a good account, no problem.  But ASR on accounts I have been doing are ridiculous, so many random errors, no way you can skim through them.  Any body out there that consistently gets these line counts every week without working more than 39 hrs per week?  Is there hope for me?

I would look again- sounds like a typo - North MT

[ In Reply To ..]
Even on a good account 350 is pushing it. I can do it but only if the stars align just right and I remember to punch in and out for bathroom breaks. I don't work more than 39, but you better believe that when I am punched in I am working. It is hard to stay that consistent though. And really for these lousy benefits? I sincerely hope that was a typo because if that means 350 is coming down the pipe for the rest of us with benefits we all might as well hang it up now. They bumped PT people from 100 to 120 starting in June so asking the FT to do 3 times as much doesn't seem right. But again this is the Q and apparently if somebody else cuts the pay for MTs or their benefits or ups the line requirements the Q will follow.

Not really a typo. - Between ASR & MY

[ In Reply To ..]
You are expected to do that in an 8-hour shift...and that doesn't take into account that you will spend most of your shift w/ NJA and then spend up to an hour trying to put your PTO/whatever punches in the time clock. Good luck.

asr - no

[ In Reply To ..]
Oh that can't be right - I can do 300 on a good day but not consistently every hour - I doubt that there are too many out there that could do that? I would double check on that if I were you.

QA is 350 - donna

[ In Reply To ..]
looked it over again, 150 per hr is typed and ASR per hr. 350 is for QA work. 150 per hr gets full benefits, 120 per hr gets limited benefits. Never been an employee, always IC, not sure I want to change that but MQ is only taking employee status.

10 cents a line includng spaces? - donna

[ In Reply To ..]
From what I can understand, if you are level III, they pay .10 for typing and .06 for ASR based on 65 with max of 2 consecutive spaces. What does that mean, do they pay for spaces or not?

they pay for spaces, however, - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
it gets a little tricky to understand. First off... do not plan on making 10 cpl because you will rarely get a typing job. I may get 1 typing job a day, if that.

Then, if it is an ASR job, they usually come through with only 1 space in them, so you dont get paid for 2. You could change them all, but you wont get paid for it anyway. So, really, you only get paid for 1 as the bulk of your work will be ASR.

I think there is a lot of things we dont get paid for, like cc lists, anything on the demographics page, the number list if you use the shortcut, the heading list if it is one of the accounts that has automatic heading list.

The Q is confusing on how it pays and just wait till you see the paycheck stub.

paid for headers? - donna

[ In Reply To ..]
says they pay for headers including the
yes, paid for headers - except
[ In Reply To ..]
Some accounts have a "heading list" and on these accounts (eventually all will be this way), you just click on heading in order dictated and you are not paid for those.

I have 20 years experience. I barely get the 150 - lines an hour. I do hear that

[ In Reply To ..]
some can; however, I have not been on any of those accounts in the 4+ years been doing the ASR. Good luck.

PS -- there is no "skimming" on some of our - accounts. I got audited

[ In Reply To ..]
on 7 reports in a DAY with a fine-toothed comb trying to get me under the 99% accuracy bar.

I think so many skim and eventually - they will be gone

[ In Reply To ..]
I had 4 years where I was never audited and suddenly, whammo... got a 97 on an audit. Shook me silly. I admit I had been skimming and made a LOT of errors with ASR because you miss things.

I absolutely do not skim now because I am afraid of not only losing my job but being put on 100% QA and docked 3 cpl.
Therefore, I barely make minimum wage.
I hear you. I sometimes go back and re-listen - to really difficult
[ In Reply To ..]
to make sure every a, an, the, and of is exactly correct and every comma in place. I spend so much more time trying to please auditors than the hospitals. Hospitals are a piece of cake.
monkey typing - donna
[ In Reply To ..]
sometimes it seems like it takes longer to do an ASR job than actually type it. I compare most ASR jobs with a monkey typing these reports, such random stupid errors, how are you supposed to make money? I have been fixing the same errors for over 3 months, the system is not learning!!
fixing for only 3 months - Ive been fixing for 5 years

Still no change.

Is It True That FOCUS, Only Counts Half Of Your Lines When Calculating VR Lines?
Jan 30, 2012

if you make 4 cents per line at 1000 lines a day, they really calculate it at 500 lines per day x 4 cents, making it really 2 cents per line for the full 1000.   I heard this, and I am really interested in knowing if it is true. ...

Told Nuance Was Overcharging For Lines, Now Lines Drastically Reduced
May 02, 2012

My main account was a good one, and the lines were very good, mostly ER work. I have been on this account for over a year and a half now. We recently received an e-mail stating that Nuance had discovered that the line count was charging incorrectly, as instituted by them, and they had been crediting us with MORE lines than we were actually doing and overcharging the client. Now get this, they informed us that they would not make US pay it back, for their mistake, but that our new lines would re ...

TransTech Lines - Required Hours But Are Short Lines?
Jun 10, 2011

What do you do when you have the required hours but are short lines? I got an email that I need to "make plans to have my shortage made up." The only problem is that I'm up to date with my hours for the pay period so far. The other problem is that I have plans Saturday night and Sunday (both being my scheduled time off) that don't include TransTech. It's getting harder and harder to defend this company when they can't hold up their end of the agreement and continually ...

TransTech Lines - How Many Lines Do You Average During The Day/week?
Jan 19, 2011

Just wondering if the TT MTs would like share ... how many lines do you average during the day/week?  I'm doing about 9,000 to 10,000 a week and wonder if I should be pushing myself more.  How much of your count is VR?  I do probably 15% traditional and 85% VR but that, of course, varies week to week.   ...

TransTech Lines - How Many Lines Do You Average Per Day
Jul 13, 2011

How many lines do you average per day - VR and traditional?  I know it's been VERY slow lately, but when things are going well, how many lines do you normally get? I'm trying to figure out where the average numbers are.  For me, I do about 350 trad and about 1400 VR in 8 hours. Well, my timesheet says 8 hours, but my clock says that number MAY(!) be a little higher.  Again, these are numbers I pull when things are going well and I'm not waiting for work to download. I'v ...

Can Anyone Tell Me (lines)......
Jan 29, 2015

how they calculate your lph rate now? Minimum is 100 clph. I'm wondering b/c since they half the speech lines, this does not seem to be your true accurate LPH. For instance if I type 100 in an hour and do 100 speech in the same hour, do they strictly look at that and say your LPH is 200 OR do they say 100 for regular, only 50 for speech, so your LPH is 150? B/c as you see, the later formula makes it appear as if you actually do less when in fact you don't and that is not accurate. I as ...

How Long Does It Take You??....600 Lines...sm
Apr 12, 2010

How long does it take you to type 600 lines?  I am considering taking an at-home position in addition to my in-house transcription position.  The minimum line count for this company is 1800 lines a week and I'd like to not have to work more than three days a week for them, which would be 600 lines per day.  I believe I'd be typing straight into Word, so the only quick-text I'd be using is the Microscoft AutoCorrect.  I would be transcribing clinic notes wi ...
