Calculating lines per hour versus time worked - Transcend MT

Posted: May 14, 2010

Hi everyone:) Just wanted to know how to calculate a line rate based on the number of hours worked, which is for Transcend.  Got a "not so nice" message from my TL saying I had better adjust my lines AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to make it balance out with the # of lines I am producing, or else!!  I would like to know if 1 of you kind, wonderful MTs would help me.  Thanks!!

Timestamp download link - New to Transcend also

http://www.syntap.com/downloads.htm Go to this link and download this free software. This is a time clock that will minimize to your system tray. It is a little clock that you can click on and off for a timer and it will keep track of your hours. All you have to do is click it on and off, red for on and blue for off. At the end of the day look at your total hours and input that for your time worked. Hope that helps you.

Lines per hour - RLee

What I used to do was take my line count and divide it by the number of hours I actually worked. This will give you a calculation of the lines typed per hour. However, it does take help if you are experiencing the situation of sitting there waiting and looking for work for 12 to 14 hours, which was my case, but it does give an accurate calculation of actual typed lines when comparing to actual hours spent typing. Hope this helps you, and GOOD LUCK you are going to need it.

So what is their actual complaint? - Former

Are they saying you are typing too few lines for how many hours you are putting down? Interesting.

They swore up and down on our conference calls when asked the specific question if there was a minimum line per hour required, that there was not, that making the minimum money per pay period (450 PT or 900 FT) was what mattered.

That is exactly what they are saying..your - hours must SM

synch up to about 150 lph. If it takes you longer than the calculation of 150 lph, you have to "fudge" your time card. If you put the truth, it might reflect lower than minimal wage. It's a real catch-22 because you have to work a certain amount of hours to be FT and overtime has to be approved. I think you might end up actually working more than 40 hours but you can't put that on your time card.

Yes, that is exactly what they are saying, and I am glad you reminded me of what they said during the conference. I had a talk with my supervisor today and she also said that it was 900 lph that counted, but this is not what I was also told. Very interesting, and thanks for taking the time to respond to my note:)

Thanks to all of you - Transcend MT

Minimum Wage Versus Lines Per Hour.
Jan 02, 2013

So I have been very careful not clocking in when work is low because I don't want my LPH to suffer, BUT.....Is there anyone out there who just clocks in and takes the reports slow as they come and accepts the minimum wage?  Do you get "naughty" emails from your lead telling you that you need to pick it up or clock out?  I hope this makes sense.  It just occurec to me that minimum wage would be better than no wage when work is low. ...

Is It True That FOCUS, Only Counts Half Of Your Lines When Calculating VR Lines?
Jan 30, 2012

if you make 4 cents per line at 1000 lines a day, they really calculate it at 500 lines per day x 4 cents, making it really 2 cents per line for the full 1000.   I heard this, and I am really interested in knowing if it is true. ...

Question About Calculating Speech Lines???
May 29, 2015

I'm sure this has been asked but can someone please tell me what happens with speech line requirements when they are calculating your CLPH. It has to be 100 or more. If I do speech lines today and I do 500 lines for example, do they calculate the 500 and divide by my hours to get my CLPH OR do they take the 500, divide in half and THEN use the 250 divided by my hours to get my CLPH??? Show me in this example- 500 lines speech, worked 5 hours. CLPH would be 100 LPH in that example OR do th ...

Average Per Hour With 0.75 Or 0.375 Versus $12.00 Per Hour
Mar 31, 2014

My transcription job was always paid by the hour. I was laid off and they recently offered me a temp position with them making $12.00 an hour.  I was also offered a positon that pays 7.5 and 3.5 cpl.  The $12.00 is employee status for a small local company I worked for over 9 years.  The other is an IC position.  Do you think I would make more with the $12.00 an hour or the per line production rate?  I have never done production by line work so I'm not sur ...

QA Lines Per Hour/day
Nov 17, 2011

I have been promoted to QA and was wondering what the average line count you that do QA get in an hour or a day. I have been doing this for a few months and I am making about the same amount of money per month as I was with MT. Am I being too slow? I am afraid to speed it up for fear of missing something. My workload is about 50% fill in blanks and scan and 50% listen and read along full audit stuff. Right now I am averaging 400 to 450 lines an hour or 3200 to 3600 a day. I was hoping to make a ...

400 Lines An Hour?
Jul 31, 2014

I'm just thinking back to that whoever person that posted on here about a week or two ago that says he or she easily makes $16 to $18 an hour at Nuance and has plenty of work and always gets paid on time.  A lot of replies said the poster is probably a fake and is someone from Nuance management or human resources who is desperate for people to hop on board.  I posted that it would be impossible to make $16 as an MT at Nuance, for you'd have to be nearly bionic in terms of yo ...

To Get Decent Lines An Hour
Aug 04, 2010

Hi, I seem to struggle with line counts (a few years into MTing).  Some accounts I am fine with and some very slow.  Because of the nature of the work (and working from home), I have no way to gauge if the faster accounts are just abnormally easy or the slower accounts are abnormally hard.  - Do you all (who have decent line counts) feel like you are moving like a mad person or just moving along at a decent pace? Any ideas on how to tell what my issues are or what the scoop is?&n ...

HOW MANY ASR LINES CAN YOU EDIT PER HOUR?
Jan 28, 2012

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but how many lines on average would you say you can edit with ASR per hour?  I think the most I have ever been able to do was around 250 myself.  I just wondered how I measured up with other MTs with the ASR jobs.  I remember a couple of years ago not long after MQ started up with ASR getting a company email describing an MT (no name was given) who could edit over 600 lines per hour and over 400 with straight transcription.   ...
