Looking to buy a new keyboard (or used in decent shape). Which ones are both durable and affordable? I see so many that I don't know which would be the best one. Currently looking on Amazon and there are several. TIA
I have to have mechanical keyswitches, like the old IBM model M "clicky" keyboards, nothing else will do for me. The last split keyboard I had that included that feature (PerfecTouch 101) is no longer made, so I decided to get two tenkeyless keyboards with Cherry MX blue keyswitches to use at once, which works great for me. (I never use the number pad, so I went tenkeyless so that the keyboards wouldn't be so wide, in order to have more room/adjustability.)
I have one plugged into the PS/2 port (via an adapter since a USB keyboard) and the other in a USB port. I'm not sure if this would work for a computer without a PS/2 port, but could always just try any two keyboards in two USB ports (with adapters, if needed) and see how they do. You obviously need a wide keyboard platform (or a board placed on top of narrower one) in order to accommodate this kind of set-up.
That's still a bit of an issue for me too, and one of my hopefully eventual purchases is an adjustable-tilt keyboard platform, which while it won't do anything in terms of the *individual* tilt angle of each keyboard would probably be a help in general.
Here's a pic of someone else's set-up (involving clamps scavenged from an old Kinesis Evolution chair-mount keyboard) that might give anyone who's interested some other ideas to consider in terms of possible jerry-rigging (one can see see how tenkeyless or at least one tenkeyless would likely be preferable for something like this as well).
